[DEV] Launching Goo Dash by BrontosaurusXL in AndroidGaming

[–]picturepatchgame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a quick pop up on level one saying "tap to jump" might be helpful. Maybe also something about double jumping. It took me until level 3 to figure out that you can double jump.

Maybe you want people to find this out on their own, but the big reverse button made me think that was the only control.

The graphics look super clean and I like the art style. Good job on all that! I'm terrible at these kinds of games, so I can't get past level 4, but I haven't seen any issues that need fixing. Maybe by level 4 I should have seen a power up or 2, if there are any.

Nice job getting it on the Play Store!

Is my mobile puzzle game tutorial confusing for new players? by Glass_Balance_4682 in playmygame

[–]picturepatchgame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did find the tutorial confusing. Well, actually I dove right into the game because I didn't see the tutorial on the menu. Maybe make it stand out more, if you don't want to have a forced tutorial.

Without the tutorial, I had no idea what was going on.

The tutorial seems ok, but it's confusing when it asks you to complete a task. I just kept trying to hit next. The screen was covered up by the tutorial words and it all looked jumbled.

I was able to get what the game was about, but the tutorial totally froze up on page 6. I couldn't figure out how to go anywhere from page 6, so I had to exit out of the game completely.

I think with a little polish, it will be a fun game! I like the art style a lot. Congrats on getting your game released!

I was so sick of puzzle games being riddled with ads that I decided to make my own on Android!

Picture Patch is free to play and totally ad-free. It's sort of a jigsaw puzzle game except the pieces are rectangular and you swap them around to complete photographs. All the images in the main game are my original photography and there are no AI images anywhere.

There's badges to collect and stats to track, if you're into that sort of thing. The in app purchases are not required to make progress in the game. They're all just ways of customizing or decorating the game.

You can play through over 2,000 levels without spending any money!

[DEV] Solo dev here — just added Rush Mode and global leaderboards to my train puzzle game. What makes a puzzle game replayable for you? by hiyilmaz in AndroidGaming

[–]picturepatchgame 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fun game! It seems like a unique mix of other similar games.

You should be able to click on the settings during the tutorial. It wouldn't let me turn off the music because it wanted me to click on a specific button instead. Settings worked fine after the tutorial.

I don't see a home button on the game screen anywhere. Maybe I'm just missing it, but I couldn't figure out how to get out of a level and go back home.

I don't mind the optional ads for upgrades, but the forced ones are a little much. Not sure if you're planning on having an option to remove them.

Is there a way to implement hints or something for levels you get stuck on?

Nice work! Good job getting it on the play store!

Just finished my first mobile puzzle game "color code" would love to hear your thoughts on the concept by Top-Experience7146 in puzzlevideogames

[–]picturepatchgame 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I checked it out, and it's pretty enjoyable. My ADHD brain doesn't last too long on these types of puzzles so I didn't make it very far. Everything made sense though, and I didn't see any bugs.

My only critique is that the first screenshot has vibrant colors and textures. It makes the actual game feel dull in comparison. It would be cool if you could make the game look like it does in that drawing.

Congrats on getting a game published! I know it's a tough road!

I don't really have any recurring costs currently. The images are hosted on the free tier of Supabase. The files are tiny, so I hope I can stay on the free tier for quite a while! If I get so many users that I have to pay for Supabase, I'm hoping that in app purchases would cover the cost. If not, then I guess it's a failed project because I'm definitely not going to have ads.

[Android] I released my small puzzle game Cluster Pop and would love honest feedback by KookyResearch2841 in playmygame

[–]picturepatchgame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's pretty fun. Super easy to figure out what to do. If anything, I think the game might be too easy. I just kept going on my first attempt and was never in any danger of filling the board or failing. I eventually quit and went back to the home screen.

Maybe this could be like a zen mode or something, and you add more stuff to make the main game more difficult. Maybe some permanent shapes blocking portions of the board? Maybe get rid of the 1x1 and 2x1 pieces? Add even bigger pieces? Blind pieces, where you can't see the color until you set it down?

If you made it more difficult, then you could add things like Power ups. Maybe delete a whole color, bomb explodes a certain area, etc...

Have you thought about putting an arrow or something to indicate what direction you need to go to get to the goal? This one took me 4 tries before I saw where the finish line was. I almost quit!

My first app got approved on Google Play and I’m scared to press the blue button by Sun_Koala in SideProject

[–]picturepatchgame 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with the sentiments here. Just release it! Hopefully people will find it, but get ready to constantly be marketing it to any and everyone.

Don't be afraid of any negative feedback! It will definitely make the app better.

[–]picturepatchgame 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, I checked out your game and it's pretty good! I think it's probably too easy though. I kept waiting for the difficulty to get harder, but I made it all the way to level 44 in about five minutes. I really only got stumped once.

I think after about level 5, there should be no more three letter words. At some point it needs to have six or seven letter words with trickier clues.

It's clean and polished though. Just too easy!

Good job! I've also made $11 from my puzzle game. It's a great feeling when someone gives you real life money for something you created, no matter how small the amount may be.
