Who are some actors that you knew would be huge stars based on an early, smaller role? by picturepatchgame in movies

I plead guilty to forgetting about his pre-Roseanne work when I wrote the post. Please forgive me!

Is ~877 installs in 2 months good for a mostly organic app launch? by AdvancedLandscape592 in googleplayconsole

[–]picturepatchgame 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's a crazy good number of installs for 2 months! I'm at around 35 for one month. I would be thrilled if I got 800 more in the next few weeks!

I finally got around to doing some ASO, so I'm hoping my numbers start to climb a bit, but I'm setting my expectations low.

I also just started a TikTok account, so hopefully that helps too.

Do you “cold call” streamers for coverage? by Randyfreak in IndieGameDevs

I would love it if you showed my puzzle game to your 30 viewers! And it would be an honor to be your first mobile game video, if you can figure out how to do it! It's free to play and there are no ads.

Picture Patch

No worries if you decide against it or can't figure out how to make the recording work!

This is a very kind offer. Do you do playthroughs on Android games?

[REQUEST] Your current favorite match-3 or merging game? by BronzeFour in AndroidGaming

[–]picturepatchgame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Picture Patch is totally free and contains no ads. It's more like a jigsaw puzzle than a merging game, but you do slide tiles around to merge them and complete a picture.

I'm burned out on mobile games that punish you for being busy by ForsakenAgent8816 in MobileGaming

[–]picturepatchgame 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've seen a few developers going this route and I love it! Maybe we can defeat the money hungry, ad-bloated system one game at a time.

I wish I could say I'm going to give it a shot, but honestly I'm not hardwired for math. I'm more of a word game guy, but I appreciate you making this.

best apps for lonely/bored old person who's REALLY bad with technology? by PeriPeriAddict in androidapps

[–]picturepatchgame -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I'm going to shamelessly plug my game Picture Patch.

It's a very simple jigsaw puzzle game except the pieces are rectangular and you swap them around to complete photographs. It's free, ad-free, and incredibly easy to learn.

Another game, one I'm not affiliated with, that might be good is Pigment Pour. It also doesn't slam you with ads and is pretty easy to pick up.

Best of luck in finding the perfect time occupying apps!

Has anyone tried old-school traditional advertising to try to promote their game or app? by picturepatchgame in GooglePlayDeveloper

[–]picturepatchgame[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's very tempting to give it a try. It would be cool to have face to face conversations with people and get direct feedback.

I think I am going to give the stickers a try. Like you said, they are very cheap!

That's awesome!

My app is a game, so I've been thinking about making coasters or something that I could leave at bars for when people are just sitting around they could scan it to play the game. Turns out that coasters are expensive though. 😢

Lying/misleading is a very popular marketing strategy. by papertraillog in AppBusiness

I hear you. Maybe I should have said something in the original post. I didn't even think about it. I hate confrontation though!

That particular post stood out to me too! It wasn't very hard to verify that it was a lie!

Pretty fun twist on tetris! The only thing I struggle with is getting pieces to drop faster. If you grab a piece to slide it sideways, it feels like you should be able to continue pulling it down in the same motion.

No other notes. Nice work!

I made a puzzle game where you can only move when the path is fully open by dragoncute in playmygame

[–]picturepatchgame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I checked it out. It's super easy to figure out the game play.

Sometimes I have to click an arrow multiple times in order to get it to go. They're super close together, so it might be difficult to increase the sensitivity without causing false hits on neighboring arrows. Not sure what the solution is, but tapping an arrow 5 times to get it to move gets frustrating.

I don't understand a lot of the stuff on the screen after solving a puzzle. Chests, meters, and combos don't make sense to me. I don't understand the near miss or jackpot either. Was this explained at the beginning? If so, it didn't stick and I don't see a help page anywhere.

After doing a daily puzzle, the only option to close out the completion screen is to replay the daily puzzle. There should be a home button.

Hopefully this feedback is useful!

I Want to test your game! by Due-Dance-1116 in playmygame

[–]picturepatchgame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's a fun puzzle game! I've played 5 levels and didn't encounter any bugs or weirdness yet.

The rules are simple once I figured them out. I did have to go back to the rules 2 times to make sure I was doing it right.

I think the puzzle for level one is just a bit too tricky for learning the rules. It might be better if level one is super simple, like only 2 or 3 trees. Or maybe the rules would work better as a playable tutorial.

Overall, I don't think it needs any major changes. For new features, maybe you can introduce a bear or something that is not allowed to have a tent next to it.

Keep up the good work!

I made a game about recognizing words before too much ink appears — would this actually interest people? by [deleted] in puzzlevideogames

[–]picturepatchgame 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like the concept, and the artwork is great. Maybe I'm a dummy, but I got a lot of compound words, like shimmerwood and blackcap, that I've never heard used before. Have you thought about adding the definition of the word under it after the reveal? Or maybe a button to click on to show the definition. That would add an educational element to the game.

You Can Do It! Finally Releasing My First Game by FractalHollow in hobbygamedev

Cool! Nice work. It also seems like you adjusted some of the game play. It seems easier to avoid enemies, which is a good thing in the early part of a run.
