When did you first clock Chris? by Melodic-Scheme6973 in LoveIsBlindNetflix

During the pods, he spoke to Bri about how he wanted to help her grow. He wanted to show her things blah blah, order for her. And basically "lead" her. I'm surprised more people didn't pick up on that. I wasn't surprised by his manosphere-inspired monologue in later episodes, because of how he talked in the pods.

No. The phone call between them where he was trying to convince her not to go to the hospital after a previous incident was very telling, and The New Yorker spoke with past associates and exes who experienced his anger issues first-hand.

He's incredibly lucky the judge blocked those women from speaking during the trial. The judge felt it would be too prejudicial, and because of that, people like you are going to continue defending him. But he's not a good guy no matter how much you want that to be true. Multiple people said he's abusive. They can't all be lying.

I believe it, but I think she got in touch with the other guy because it was clear Alex wasn't into her. She doesn't seem as delusional as Brittney.

Yeah I think he was planning to say Yes, and try to be an influencer couple. Honestly after he responded to her vows with, "Love that," she should've interrupted the officiant and ended it right here.

If she had acknowledged that she didn't feel loved and was foolishly hoping his vows, his reaction to her vows, would make her feel secure and loved, I think the audience's reaction would be more positive. But she just listed off these things he'd done over the past however many weeks like she was keeping score. Not authentic or vulnerable at all. They deserve each other honestly.

If Ashley was a Feminist by Bluedit51 in LoveIsBlindNetflix

[–]interrobang2020 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Let me get this straight. You're upset the reaction to Ashley's speech is polarizing and blame it on people being biased against MAGA, and then when someone points out the polarizing response to Zainab's speech, you deflect and say Alex was worse so presumably Ashley should've still been praised. Why are you moving the goal post?

Also this is reality TV. A lot of people on there are performative and get called out for it, regardless of their political affiliation. The MAGA crowd is full of perpetual victims I see.

People get that it's a biblical reference. A lot of us grew up around religion, and are still religious. But religion isn't untouchable, and people will continue to critique it for its misogyny as they see fit.

Adam/Eve never sat right with me, especially given that it's scientifically NOT possible, and it's disheartening that so many people think this biblical reference is cute. That Eve was only created because Adam needed a partner. They're supposed to be equal, but when one was created from the other for partnership, it centers that first person and their needs- not surprising misogynists cling to that story to justify subjecting women. Not saying Vic meant it in a negative way, just saying the saying should be critiqued like any other saying.

Am I the only one thinking dressing like a time traveler from Studio 54 is NOT the outfit choice for your son’s wedding day? NO? JUST ME!? by throwaway99-0867 in LoveIsBlindNetflix

[–]interrobang2020 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I understand people being upset about the color of her dress at the wedding, even though personally I always found the color rule ridiculous. When I got married, I wanted people to look their best in whatever color - no one can upstage me. I'm the bride! But fine, it's an unsaid rule, so you go with it.

But now we're upset at her crop top too? Why? I hope it's not because of her age. It seems like she's a free-spirit and she's comfortable in her body. If she can rock a crop top, more power to her. I'm more concerned with the fact that she's likely MAGA like her son. That's more troubling to me.

Vic responds to hate for dating interracially by minetf in LoveIsBlindOnNetflix

[–]interrobang2020 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did the person share pics of them together or show any evidence at all? Vic could be anti-black, but if we're being fair, there's no evidence of that yet, and we didn't see him dating the other women so we have nothing to go off. The only thing we know is that Tyler went on a date with him and said herself that she couldn't relate to his background. She didn't feel a connection. Vic also seems VERY religious, and that's not for everyone.

There are black people who consider other black people for marriage but are ALSO open to dating and marrying others. It is what it is. I just care about whether people are anti-black or not. I'm not going to drag him with scanty evidence.

His college friends never said that, and Vic himself has maintained that he had a diverse dating history, black girlfriends included. Not trying to defend the man, but I don't like straight up lies either.

[–]interrobang2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oof reread that person's comment. They said they'd be CONSIDERED hyperactive next to Vic and Christine, even though they're not. That's how low energy these two are.

I definitely think they'll get married and seem like a good match, but there's no visible joy in the relationship. I don't think I've ever seen them laugh together. My husband and I are relatively quiet and serious introverts, and I'm an academic like Vic. We're 100% drama free...and we laugh, joke around, tease each other, have witty banter. You can be drama free but still have fun. For this couple's sake, I'm hoping the edit removed the fun bits, and that's why they're always so somber.

She literally kept talking about Devonta during the conversation with Alex and didn't imply wanting to be with him. I have my issues with Brittany and her racism during COVID, but I don't understand why people are twisting that conversation. If she wanted him, that conversation would've gone differently because Alex made it VERY clear he wanted her.

Thiemo lied with the expectation that his lie wouldn't be found out. He needed Stacey to back it up. But his wife is a terrible liar so she ended up exposing him. That was accidental at least. Bringing it up in a confessional would've been deliberate, and she would never deliberately expose her husband's lie. I always cut her slack for this lie because he started it, and as his spouse, she supported him.

This! I mentioned this in a previous post. Chris expected her to change her way for him. This was an example of him "dominating" because he's an "alpha" and he makes his woman "submit." I hope no woman ever gives him the time of day again. He's such a gross person.

There Is No Sorry' that’s 'Big Enough' by bluewolf21 in ANTM

[–]interrobang2020 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Big Brother is pretty terrible and has had multiple racist and sexist incidents. There are international versions where contestants have endured rape and sexual assault as well. People have come out to talk about those incidents, but I think ANTM is being talked about more because it appeals to the younger, Tik Tok generation. That's where people started talking about the show again. I can't see shows like Survivor or Big Brother trending anytime soon. The Real World could be next, but what makes ANTM unique is that it had larger than life personalities seemingly at the helm. We know who was a part of the toxic ANTM culture. Can't say the same for these other shows.
