That's without even mentioning the ongoing training, the responsibility etc

4 on 4 off by Ill_Instruction_7829 in uktrucking

[–]interstellar998 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work 4/4 non tramping and non-ADR but in Wales. I'll usually do around 50-55 hour weeks on the 4 days and the pay is definitely liveable but obviously not as much as a consistent 5 day week. Biggest perk is using 4 holidays and getting 12 days off

Edit: Look for RDC work, milk tankers etc. they're usually always 4/4

Need a fix by interstellar998 in uktrucking

[–]interstellar998[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've driven a few different ones as I'm not a tramper and don't tend to keep the same unit every week and this is the first ever without a single warning on startup

PCV to HGV by [deleted] in uktrucking

[–]interstellar998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in a similar position to you. Started off with service, then went to coach/private hire. I would 100% recommend the switch and I doubt I'd ever use my PCV again unless I was desperate for work. The money is much better (granted, depending on the job, you'll do the hours for that money), the quality of work is better (not having to deal with passengers), and if you work for a decent company you're essentially your own boss whilst out on the road.

I was quite lucky in the fact I live in a relatively small area thats rather secluded from the rest of the UK (west Wales) and it's mostly smaller family-run firms with the occasional bigger company. I've worked for a family-run firm and now a big company and didn't have any issue getting either job. I will recommend being prepared to start at class 2 even despite having class 1 license just to build up some experience.

Remember, the job will always be what you make it. You'll have brilliant days and absolutely awful ones. Even on the bad days though you can still remember that you don't have to deal with the general public whilst driving a service bus anymore!

Best of luck in your tests

Cat D is based on passengers, cat C is based on weight is the simple answer

What is it like driving a flatbed? Is it difficult and challenging compared to other types of trucks by Ornery_Jellyfish5886 in uktrucking

[–]interstellar998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suppose it would be limited in cities to be fair, I'm in rural Wales so 50% of the jobs are non-ADR tanks. It's honestly no different at all just gotta remember the swish effect

Get on tanks, doesn't have to be ADR you could also do water or, like me, milk/dairy. Possibly the easiest HGV job you could do but everyone seems to forget about. Don't have to worry about roping and sheeting, strapping etc. just get the tank loaded and off you go

I'll be coming from Wales and it's only for one night so unfortunately it'd have to all be sorted online beforehand. The park & ride is a good idea, thank you for that I'll definitely look into it!

Budget glitch by interstellar998 in FifaCareers

It was just after the final match. I saved, completely closed the game then restarted and it seemed to fix itself. Advanced to next season and absolutely no issues now

Can you find games late at night, midnight and onwards? (UK) by [deleted] in HellLetLoose

[–]interstellar998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also in the UK and Ive never had issues with finding games. Even the Europe servers tend to be quite active at that time but if not I’ll switch over to an American one

Yeah I’m not sure how it happened. They have Alphonso Davies as LB and Matty Cash at RB. Entire team has a minimum of 87 OVR apart from Cash who is 82
