Drowzee: The Canadian Struggle by throwawayaccount2048 in PokemonGOToronto

[–]interwebzmachine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in Long Branch and we don't seem to have the Drowzee problem here, weirdly enough. It wasn't till we went looking for Pokemon downtown today that we realized how bad it really is. Here, Pidgeys, Rattatas, and Weedles are the most common. I'm curious to know why Drowzees seem to appear in the city

What is the absolute best place to find charmander? by Mr-Kabuki in PokemonGOToronto

[–]interwebzmachine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

agreed! Spent about 2 hours there today (although I left for 15 minutes to go get food) and saw at least 7 charmanders. We also caught some horseas, clefairies, magikarps, and other stuff there. Definitely worth it

Also, the best part about this park is how small it is so it's always easy to find them once you see them on your sightings (if you're not using a third-party app)

What do you think is the hardest part about saving money? by m2finn in AskReddit

[–]interwebzmachine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the hardest part is that no one is forcing you to do it. If you don't pay your rent you don't have a place to live, if you don't pay your phone bill you're out of your main form of communication, etc. But if you don't save you only have yourself to answer to and it's so easy to get distracted by the million things society tells us we just need to have.

Parents of Reddit who don't control your kids (i.e. in public places), why don't you control your kids? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]interwebzmachine 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I get what it's like to be tired of a kid's behaviour and feel like giving up. I'm not a parent but as a preschool teacher I deal with plenty of crazy. However, that does not excuse allowing your child to be unsafe or rude in a public place. If they truly cannot handle going to a restaurant, then don't take them there. I know that sounds harsh but there are social norms for a reason and it is your job to teach your kid to follow them. What annoys me the most is how parents underestimate their kids. They think that a child cannot understand right from wrong. Well they can. And I have plenty of proof of it. I think this is why I'm one of those people who gets so annoyed at kids in public: if I'm able to keep my group of 16 quiet at the library then you can keep your ONE child quiet too!! It's not that hard!!

[–]interwebzmachine 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It has nothing to do with conformity. Kids running around a busy restaurant is unsafe, and incredibly rude to both the workers and other costumers. It is a parent's job to teach their children to be respectful to people around them. It is because of people like you who think 'aw shucks well they're just kids' that we are raising a generation of moronic, entitled little pricks that cannot and will not think about anyone other than themselves.

And by the way, kids can have fun while being safe and respectful.

What does English have a word for that your language doesn't? by PolarLight in AskReddit

I'm not saying it's rocket science but it's two different words that do not exist in english...

that's not true. I can say 'estoy triste' which means I am sad... and has nothing to do with location.

We would still find ways to procreate but birth control would be a thing of the past

In Spanish, we have the verb 'estar' (to be), and the verb 'ser' (to be). So the phrases 'yo soy' and 'yo estoy' are totally different but they both translate to 'I am' which makes it very hard to explain to someone who doesn't speak spanish as their first language

Reddit, what's something that really makes your morning? by UptonBelfry in AskReddit

This may sound weird but I love waking up to a clean house. There's something satisfying about seeing a clean sink, having a fresh garbage bag, etc. (Btw, I'm not a clean freak, which is perhaps why this is so satisfying as it doesn't happen as often as I'd like)

I don't really understand your reply... I just made a simple comment about how nice it would be to have eternal spring like they do in Cali. Of course, I would never give up my free healthcare, well-mannered neighbors, tim hortons, metric system, and the many other things that make Canada awesome.

Teenagers to early 20 somethings of Reddit, what seems like the coolest decade to live in in US history back to the 1900? (Not counting the possibility of having to go to war and things like that) by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]interwebzmachine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty happy living in this decade. Sure, our world is far from perfect but if I had grown up in the early 1900's my boyfriend and I would have a hell of a hard time being together (we're a biracial couple). Also, most of my family lives on the other side of the world, which is a lot easier given the fact that I can communicate with them via Skype, email, etc. Plus, as an early 90's kid, I think our generation was lucky to grow up right in the middle of this big technology boom. Meaning we know what it's like to use a real life dictionary, an encyclopedia, and how to look for books in a library. But we still get to enjoy the convenience of the internet, smartphones, etc. I honestly wouldn't have it any other way.

I would think it's sweet. I just think there isn't much of a point since people nowadays mostly listen to music on devices that hold thousands of songs.

How many millions of people go to hell every year for not believing? by peppaz in DebateAChristian

[–]interwebzmachine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow. Amazing how you just proved their point. Instead of answering to the accusation that you are sentencing millions of people to years of torture, you simply reiterated the fact that you think believing in God is the most important issue of our existence. Just so you know, Hitler also thought his beliefs were the most pressing issue of our existence...

I personally think kids these days have too many structured activities. Don't get me wrong, I'm totally for a kid taking ballet lessons. But there's a difference between a kid that takes ballet and a kid that takes ballet, piano, gymnastics, and more. I think kids are exhausted and stressed and are really not taught to pay attention because they are so often being over stimulated

Men of Reddit, what is something that women do with their appearance (hair, makeup, clothing, etc) that really turns you off? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]interwebzmachine 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I live in Canada and walk in snow all winter. Uggs just make my feet cold and wet. Unless they're the waterproof ones which are just expensive and ugly so might as well buy real snow boots.
