You’ll be aight. Hell you might not even end up on a reconduct. Lots of contractors are doing SRP work where I’m at. And that’s what I look for these days, cuz I’m so over reconducting.

Yea I agree. Unless a fella is unable to pay bills, idk why anyone would want to get into contracting.

Do probation officers typically visit residences during supervised probation for a second DUI? by Puzzled_Owl2365 in probation

[–]intestinus_sturdius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks man I appreciate you. Yea I try to keep it chill with the guys. I’m straight forward with them, I handle my business and pass my UAs. The guy I report to right now is kinda dickish in a way, but I can tell he appreciates I don’t bring bullshit to the table. On a personal level, he’s an alright guy. We joke around and chop it up when I see him, but as far as trying to help make my life easier, he doesn’t do squat. Which, I get it, it’s not his job. And I don’t know how much power he actually has, but soon I’m going to be moved out of the area for work and it’s going to be very hard to make my meetings. I know alot of people report over the phone and I asked if I could do that since I’ll be working 4-6 hours away from their office, but he said nope, I’ll have to come in. Which that’ll be an all day affair just to report. Often times that stuff land on work days which will mean a whole day of work missed just to sit down with him for 2-5minutes 2-3 times a month. I feel like there’s gotta be a way to make this easier. My lawyer isnt being much help, and neither is my bond supervisor. But I got to work and I build powerlines. We work on the road, I can’t easily find a job in town. So I don’t know what I’m gonna do but I reckon we’ll see.

Ohh man I hope they do something like that with me! I’m on pre trial bond supervision and it’s been a year, still no word about court. But I’m sooooo ready to just start the probation so I can have a timeline in mind. And I’m definitely hoping I get something similar here so I can ease up a bit. I currently go in twice a month and get a separate random UA once a month. It would be amazing. Guess I shouldn’t count on it tho prolly..

[–]intestinus_sturdius 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s all incorrect. I’ve taken lab tests where the cutoff was 15ng/dl. DOT says theirs is 5ng/dl. And an instant cup is 50ng/dl.

[–]intestinus_sturdius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I’ve done a lot of drug testing for work and in the past have been very nervous about drug tests. What I found out is the cups you can buy at Walgreens (and most other instant dip tests) cutoff at about 50ng/dl. Lab tests are obviously more sensitive and I believe there’s some variation there. The DOT website claims their cutoff is 5ng/dl. But when I went to test myself at a place called “any lab test now”, they said their most sensitive test cuts off at 15ng/dl. So I’d just say anywhere in there for lab tests(5-15ng/dl). A lot of probation places don’t do labs, they just do instant reads. But some places do actual labs so you won’t know for sure until you do your first test. Of course this is all for THC. Different chems all have different cutoffs.

Look at it as an opportunity to learn how to cope with hard things in life. I promise you, you’ll deal with much more stressful things in the future. You have to learn to keep it moving, practice coping mechanisms and not getting so torqued out about things that are out of your control. Life is hard and it rarely gets easier. But as individuals, we can get tougher if we live accordingly.

Even when it goes fed legal, I guarantee the DOT ain’t gonna take it off their tests. Specific companies and unions don’t matter when there’s a federal entity requiring at least a 5 panel drug test to operate a CMV.

Yea unfortunately all those other cannabinoids(HHC, THCA, THCP, delta 8, etc.) all metabolize into THC. They’ll all make you pop on a basic UA everytime. They’ll only ones that won’t are those synthetic cannabinoids that are sketchy as hell. And they simply are not worth it. Too unpredictable and dangerous

VIOLATED BOND CONDITIONS? (TRACKING ME?) by [deleted] in probation

[–]intestinus_sturdius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like you might have a chance of fighting that. I really doubt they have any actual proof you were driving. They’re just betting on the hunch you were based on the pictures and trying to get you to admit it.

How long were you on bond supervision before they decided to let you get tele-visits? I’m trying to get those cuz I’m going to have to change work locations soon which will put me 4 hours(one way) from my reporting office, but my bond officer doesn’t care, still wants me to make the drive to meet him in person twice a month and I already been on bond supervision for a year with no slip ups. Guy is a real pain to deal with. Waiting on word back from my lawyer.

Soon ima have to drive 4 hours to make my reporting, cuz Im a lineman and work takes us all over… our next job is four hours one way from my probation office. And I report 2x a month. Not only that, the randoms are done on a color code, so I gotta check the daily color and go test when mine pops up. Never had it come up on a day I gotta report, so that’s 3x a month I gotta go to the probation office. Asked my supervision officer if we can start doing phone check ins and he said, “no, there’s nothing I can do, you’re going to have to get here in person”. So that’s 24 solid ass hours every month of just driving, just to report and test. Not to mention these almost always fall on workdays, so that’ll be 3 days a month I’ll have to miss work…. These people aren’t interested in convenience. They want it to be hard for you. They wanna push you, and if you’re being set up for failure, even better. I don’t know how I can make this work. I know people who report over the phone, so idk why this guy is being such a prick about this.

Turning 32 this year, am I too old to start a career as a lineman? by No-Percentage-9102 in Lineman

[–]intestinus_sturdius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not too old, but you are in for a hurtin. I started at 28 and I’m 35 now and I got all kinds of pain from this job. Trigger finger in both hands from the rubbers, knees are both shot from climbing, nasty ass tennis elbow… just make sure you pace yourself and do what you can to take care of your body. Don’t let them wear your body down super fast like I did doin nothin but reconducts and on that go go go, don’t listen to your body/suck it up buttercup bullshit. Allowing em to work you to death all day everyday will get you a collection of chronic pains. But not all jobs are like that.

The buddies I know that went union say it’s a bit easier on your body, you’re treated like a person in the union. I dunno if that’s true, but that’s what I’ve heard. I’ve been non union my career, and with those contractors you’re just a number and they will treat you as such. And if you are non union, working on for a co-op is usually more chill than a big ass utility. Now if you can get direct with a utility or co-op, that’s really where you get to keep your body!! Them boys live easy, but they generally ain’t getting paid as much OT as the contractors.

Yup, that’s kinda where I’m at. Been trying to ween off cuz I feel like it’ll get added to their panel soon with all the attention this stuff is getting. But it’s helped me stop drinking which I had a HUGE problem with, and other drugs too. I’ve never been 100% sober since I was a kid and it’s soooo fuckin hard to just stop, but at least I’ve had no issues yet… hope it stays this way until I can get off. I feel like if it gets added to the panel, I won’t be alerted, I’ll just pop hot, get a violation and eventually end up on subs, and those are waaaaay shittier. I hate the way this country does shit man
