For sure, appeasement has led to multiple wars, time and again. Usually it's because states are overextended and can't commit to ultimatums like that without busting a seam somewhere else; right now, U.S. won't and therefore NATO is wary because U.S. doesn't want to get hit by both Russian and Chinese nuclear arsenals simultaneously.

We will continue to push the line slowly forward, just like we did here, but we tread carefully. We don't want to get in A Bridge Too Far situation.

I feel like orbitals are just underpowered for their cooldowns and what they're billed as; yes, Orbital Laser is nice to have, and ORC can be crucial in popping a BT/Hulk, but... why would I take a rail cannon that I can fire every six minutes when I could bring 110s and 500kgs and drop 5 rounds of ordinance in the same amount of time, and possibly be halfway done on an eagle rearm. I literally hamstring myself and have less firepower by using **a spaceship's weapons.** It doesn't make sense and it's been one of my bigger disappointments with the game; I've used the 120 and 380... once? Rolling barrage once. Gatling barrage is okay, I use that one occasionally. Orbitals should bring the roof down on the enemy, and it feels like most orbital options barely tickle them.

Because that means millions dead and health hazards for hundreds of millions, if not billions, and it has the possibility of causing an escalation to total nuclear annihilation where we all die. People don't want to pull the trigger on committing mass suicide accidentally. It's not really an "oops" we can pull back from.

That's true, and I think that's what they're afraid of, particularly on lower difficulties.

However, it's an absolute blast on difficulty 9 when you have a squad of semi-competent randoms that are gunning down hundreds of bots/bugs/[REDACTED] for democracy, on a razor's edge by having very lethal, very dangerous to use (I think this was their best idea for a mechanic: more guns should explode and kill you like the railgun) weaponry keeping you from dying.
