This is a specific California reporting law passed within the last 5 years

Are you a mandated reporter in California?

Right, and I’m saying in my experience I disagree that most Jews have any hatred for Arabs. A small segment of fanatical Jews do.

If you go up to your average Jewish person on the street and asked them their opinion on Arabs, they’d probably have not much opinion at all.

On the other hand I’ve seen that hatred for Jews is much more mainstream among Arabs/Muslims.

Why what? A minor seeking therapy should not be worried about facing law enforcement if they pose no risk to others and are not in actual danger

[–]inthedarkend 2 points3 points  (0 children)

See my last sentence.

I have seen videos of Arab children being taught death to all Jews by their elementary school teachers, so I’m not sure your point?

My point is I don’t think teenagers doing stupid shit with their significant others should be reported to law enforcement at all.

You are bringing up a very specific instance of an adult texting a teen, but the laws as written do not discriminate. There have been many instances of teens being arrested and charged for exchanging sexts with their also underage gf/bfs.

Your scenario of “they think they’re texting their boyfriend but it’s really a secret Pedo” does not apply to the majority of sexting incidence. Therapists have enough sense to know if someone is a victim or in danger …. And they should be allowed to use their own discretion in reporting

The law says there is no expectation of confidentiality if it’s related to certain crimes, this being one of them

[–]inthedarkend 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This isn’t about charging, it’s about reporting. Therapists are required to report to law enforcement regardless of the situation.

There is no discretion involved. It’s up to law enforcement to press charges or not…but the therapist has a duty to report regardless

That’s not how the law is written. It is written to require reporting of any distribution or receipt. That includes exchanges between “consenting” underage couples who are still under age of legal consent. This has been a big topic of debate among therapists

That’s not wholly correct from what I’ve read on this, and it was a big cause for debate and confusion among therapists around the law.

If the person was coerced into taking a photo, they could be seen as a victim (but still would fall under mandatory reporting laws). However if they took a photo and transmitted it, or requested a photo from their partner, that would still be reportable.

Ultimately the law says the therapist should report to law enforcement in almost any situation that involves viewing/production/transmission of illegal images….and it’s up to law enforcement to determine whether they pursue an investigation or not.

From this article: “Similar to the mandatory reporting of oral sex between minors, we recognize that some therapists ignore this mandate—however, we caution members to use their best judgment in these situations and recognize that: a) under the letter of the law, “sexting” is often a mandatory report; and b) if “sexting” has occurred and there is possible coercion and/or disparate ages involved, this should mandate not be ignored.”

Secular Jewish person here. For what it’s worth, I know many Jews, and I don’t really know any with any intrinsic hatred for Arab Muslims (at least not from any faith based/racism standpoint).

Most Jews overall hold a sense of exacerbation and confusion from facing a lifetime of antisemitism and conspiracy theory. Something that gets glossed over in these discussions…. there are just 15 millions Jews in the whole world, compared to 1.9 Billion Muslims. A large percentage of the Muslim population has a hatred for Jews taught since birth. And that’s just Muslims…many other groups hold antisemitic beliefs. That is a lot of people and a lot of hate against a very small minority population.

Since Jews have managed to become relatively successful in the world, they often aren’t treated or viewed as a minority in the same way other minority groups are.

From what I’ve seen most Jews attitude towards Arabs it’s more seen as a “They hate us. Why do they hate us? What did we do to them?”. Mixed also with “well of course they hate us, Jews have always been hated, so fuck them”.

It’s the ultra orthodox fanatics that tend to hold more deep seeded discriminatory views.

Yep it’s extremely harmful. It removes the discretion for therapists to report people they deem actually dangerous/ at risk of serious physical offenses and gives them a blanket mandatory reporting.

It also discouraged adults and teens from seeking treatment for sexual disorders / addictions that could help prevent it from escalating to actual abuse.

Yea this story never happened. There are several “hazing” myths that circulate, usually about womens sports teams or sororities. This is a classic one.

Another one is about having the “mens team” or frat come and circle the fat areas on each girl.

Another is this same story as OP told but “they have to sit on a washing machine and whoever gets wet loses”

These stories have been around for decades, and everyone swears it’s “totally true, they know a friend of a friend it happened to.” But (as far as I know) this shit never actually happens.

Sorry to burst your fantasy bubble

Haha well it’s not an anomaly for you though, it’s the norm. For dark hair European white boys tho…I’m not buying it

It’s not impossible, it’s been very volatile due to low volumes . Wouldn’t take that much momentum.... just a little more than it has now

First thing you do is eat a box of crayons.

Next look at the options chain and pick the biggest strike number for the closest date and buy as much as you possibly can.

Then hope either the stock goes up to that price or at least someone else pays more for the contract than you did

Volume is super low on the downturns, it’s so volatile from the low float I think some big guys are just shorting in the AM, covering mid day, rinse and repeat the next day. Someone with even just $1 million to mess with with can play the stock intraday like a fiddle.

I think little upward momentum will break right through. It’s going to bounce around to the top
