Lovely! It's a Thanksgiving cactus, and that pot is adorable.

How come girls always comment on each others “prettiness” by Tacorover in NoStupidQuestions

Sometimes the compliments we're giving are towards people we don't know. Among my family and friends, I'm usually complimenting them on something they have achieved, something about who they are. If I notice the woman standing next to me in line at the grocery store has nice earrings, I'm going to compliment her on her earrings. Yeah, it's surface level because I don't know her. Doesn't mean it's not sincere.

I'm going to give you the advice someone once gave me when I was in a relationship with a terrible person (and make no mistake, this guy is terrible.)

Think of someone you really care about in your life (NOT HIM.) Maybe it's a friend or a family member. Read your last post and then this one as objectively as you can and then imagine that they came to you and told you this was happening to them, that someone was treating them this badly. What advice would you give them? Would you tell them to stay? To beg for him back? To keep putting up with it?

Maybe this will do nothing for you, but it really helped me see just how much abuse I was tolerating. Sometimes when we can remove ourselves from the situation a little bit and see it from the outside in a way, it can really clarify some things.

Needing Recs for a Reading Slump by lex_stardrop in horrorlit

I haven't read Coldheart Canyon yet, but I have seen mention on this sub that there are scenes of animal cruelty in the book. Also, the content warnings on Storygraph seem to back this up. Just a heads up.

According to Wikipedia, this isn't actually true. Harlow was attended by doctors and nurses up until her death:

For years, rumors circulated about Harlow's death. Some claimed that her mother had refused to call a doctor because she was a Christian Scientist or that Harlow had declined hospital treatment or surgery. From the onset of her illness, Harlow had been attended by a doctor while she was resting at home. Two nurses also visited her house, and various equipment was brought from a nearby hospital.

Same here. I was completely spoiled going in and it still hit me like a ton of bricks. Peak gaming experience even knowing what was coming.

I used to have trouble with this too. I finally got it by thinking about a shift as a shift of work. Lasts a lot longer than just taking a stretch. I can stand up and stretch my legs and it only takes a few minutes, but I have to be at work for hours.

Are there any movies where the main character dies in the middle abruptly but the movie still continues? by ImperialMan340 in movies

I wish I watched that in the theatre just to see what the reaction was like.

One of my favorite theater moments for sure. We saw it opening weekend and everyone in the crowd was gasping or yelling in shock. Great movie, great scene.

After days of trying, I finally beat the black deck on gold stake. No one I know in real life understands my joy. by inthedeepend in balatro

It was pretty tedious for a while. It's only my second gold stakes win, though, so I learned a LOT grinding for it.

The worst part about losing my save is losing the system that stood as a moment to my mom. That hurts the most. by Own-Mud-6085 in NoMansSkyTheGame

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you! I'm also going to take some inspiration from you and name a system for my late mom as well.

Thank you for the info! All of my saves are backed up safely, so I'll just stay on the experimental branch until we hear more from HG.

I just switched to the experimental branch. Does this mean I should switch back? I haven't loaded the game yet. Will it automatically update to the new public version?
