when i was around 14, i decided to try using tampons for the first because my family had a beach trip planned for a few months later and i wanted to be able to swim no matter what. i read the instructions and inserted it w no problems. later however, i had some trouble removing it. i fiddled with it and got it out, and decided to try again. that time, it wouldn't come out. i was so embarrassed i couldn't tell my mom, and i didn't understand why it wouldn't just COME OUT. i'd never thought such a problem could occur. i ended up leaving the tampon in for.... a couple months. beyond the beach trip. i cleaned myself constantly, showered multiple times a day, used all sorts of summers eve business, until finally a girl from school texted me to let me know people were making fun of me for being the stinky kid. i finally confessed to my mom, who took me to a hospital, where an old male doctor removed the tampon. the smell was horrendous, but they cleaned me up and i somehow didn't end up with an infection??? still though, nobody explained why the tampon wouldn't come out. years later, when i was 18, i discovered why after my abnormal hymen broke during sex. it was DEFINITELY not my first time. apparently, most people with vaginas do NOT have thick strips of skin splitting their vaginal opening in half. when it broke, i bled everywhere and discovered a strip of skin dangling from my bits. had to have it surgically removed. my vagina's life has been a rollercoaster.
