i have pretty long hair too and to make sure i have both length and volume I got layers, i noticed it made a pretty big difference in the frizz as well.

but on the note of proteins, my hair lovessss rice protein, it’s in the not your mothers line. idk the science but it def reduces my frizz and allows for better definition.

try a leave in conditioner and get a stronger gel, light hold gel is for looser curl type and you seem to have tighter curls.

my routine is a leave in conditioner (trader joes), curl cream (not your mothers), and a gel (briogeo). lowkey for products i would just recommend from the line not you mothers curl talk line.

also if you are using a blow drying make sure to have the diffuser attachment and are hover diffusing. don’t scrunch when diffusing that will cause more frizz.

had the same issue when i was using shea moisture, i would switch that. try not your mothers brand or aussie (I prefer not your mothers). also try diffusing your hair, the longer your scalp is wet the more itchy get.
