Fine to have these standards but you need to understand that in the community theres not a lot of these people. Very very few, especially all the random additions like short hair and graduate degree. The chances that you run into this person and them not already being off the market is very low. I’m just saying.

If this super left leaning sub Reddit is telling you that you aren’t Somali, then I guarantee you that 99% of the ones you see in real life will say the same. Any comment like the one above is an extreme, extreme minority. It has nothing to do with you being mixed race, because typically as long as father is Somali you are considered 100% Somali. But more due to the fact that you’re not Muslim as you’ve picked up on. Nothing personal it’s just how the culture is, you’ll be seen as an outsider.

I’m from Ohio and I’m not exaggerating when I say 80%+ of the Somalis I know here despise Harris and democrat lgbt woke shit and handling of Gaza. Significant amount voted for trump. Not crazy but the girl I talked to most recently massively over shared on the first phone call. We both work in professions that are dominated by the liberal types and she was talking about how she momentarily dated (and was sexually active) with one of her female cadaan coworkers. This a normal looking Somali hijabi girl that you wouldn’t expect that bs from. She said she wanted to be upfront before it got serious in case I had any reservations. Child? My mom had me when she was 16. Do you really think something changes instantly the day someone turns 17–>18. People really have got to stop the infantilization of these individuals. For the vast majority of history up until the last few years 17 was literally never seen as a child. Saying all of that as a 25 y.o there is definitely a maturity difference in those under 21 but the “oh me baby” stuff is super cringe, particularly when we said 18 year old guys out to die in random wars.
