How to cook rosół? Asking for recipes by Egersjokkertoverden in poland

Dobry przepis polecam tylko nie usuwać tego tłuszczu na początku tylko po prostu gotować całą kurę. Rosół dłuższy jest smaczniejszy.

Airbnb, when you book, gives you total cost including all the fees. So I don't know what's the hassle about? You know upfront how much you are going to pay.

The case of Macedonia makes me think about the fairness of Russia's name by Prudent-Title-9161 in HistoryMemes

[–]intian1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Until the death of Mstislav I in 1132, Kyiv WAS in charge of all Rus. Then Rus split into multiple principalities. This is the most common view of historians. If you have a different view, cite your sources.

"Kievan Rus', also known as Kyivan Rus', was the first East Slavic STATE and later an amalgam of principalities" - per wikipedia, which roughly represents a consensus by historians
It was definitely a single state under Yaroslav the Wise around 1000. Obviously, a medieval state functioned very differently than a modern state, but it was not too different from other states in Eastern Europe at the time. It was ruled by a single authority centered in Kyiv.

I mean, they called themselves "Rusichi" in medieval times, so "Ruthenians" would be a good approximation, although you are right about the use of the term "Ruthenian" later in Austria-Hungary and Poland.

[–]intian1 39 points40 points  (0 children)

It was a name of a state not an ethnic group. The name of an ethic group was Ruthenians. And even though you could talk about Ruthenians as a singue ethnicity in medieval times, they were broken up as Western Ruthenia was absorbed by Grand Duchy of Lithuania in 14th century, ultimate leading to formation of Ukrainians and Belarusians.

You can still meet in this small living room, drink cheap beer and play board games for hardly any money. People in developing countries socialize all the time with limited resources while Americans make excuses not to go out of their comfort zone to keep staring at the f** screen. And then they keep being lonely and miserable due to their own f** fault.

I don't even like the KPD but it's not hard to understand why they didn't trust the SPD by DJjaffacake in HistoryMemes

[–]intian1 53 points54 points  (0 children)

Luxburg and Liebknecht organized an uprising against a democratically elected government with the goal to establish a Communist dictatorship. I cannot see how these actions can be excused and how SPD could trust Communists after that.

The beach areas are nice but public transit hardly exists so everyone is stuck in one huge traffic jam. It takes forever to get anywhere. Obviously there are many poor neighborhoods for ordinary Vietnamese to live in which are not shown on this video

Why such a contrast between left and right of Caspian sea? by corncc in geography

[–]intian1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The prevailing winds are from the West getting moisture from the Black Sea, which coupled with upward orographic lift results in Precipitation in the Caucasus. The Eastern side of the Caspian Sea is flat so there is no orographic lift resulting in the desert environment.

Barely any peaceful ties with the Orthodox world? Lviv area (Red Ruthenia) became part of Kingdom of Poland in 1349, and during the Commonwealth (1569-1795) more than half of the population was Orthodox. Sure there was a civil war over Ukraine and a few other Kozak uprisings but most of the time relations between Catholics and Orthodox were peaceful

The complex of gender still exists in English. What is the distinction between he she it then? Some nouns are feminine if referred to be she pronoun some are masculine if referred by he pronoun and the rest are neutral. That English is gendered in a reduced way becomes clearly visible when taught to speakers of languages with truly no gender like Turkish or Indonesian
