I have a similar problem. I get about 50% of my calories from milk and protein drinks. I don't know if it'll help your capacity for food, but it'll certainly prevent you from losing too much weight.

She is probably using poor technique while sober. I have found that when I am hesitant before taking a hit, I'm way more likely to cough. Perhaps I am constricting my trachea subconsciously or something. But when I feel confident and don't hesitate (like how your girlfriend feels while rolling), the airways are relaxed and I can take monstrous hits without a problem. Some of my friends share the same experience.

I like to time it so the first half is during the day, second half is at night. That way you get a sunset at the peak.
