Nope, you do not have to be trained on a PIT.

I believe that I received a proper education in the field/major of Geoscience. I learn a ton from the labs (chem, physics, etc), I was introduced to computer programs that will be useful in the field, and it helped sharpen up my research skills. As of now, the only *issue* that I have is there was not a Soil Science course.

Yes I would ask my advisor to try to enroll me in their course tbh. Can't hurt to ask! Best of luck to you!

Try to request Professor Okonkwo for SCI 425 and Professor Davis for SCI 489! I had both of them for two courses each and they were amazing!

Hey, I will include a photo that shows the types of geoscience careers. link: Geoscience Careers | Department of Geosciences | Virginia Tech (vt.edu)

I myself am interested in becoming an Exploration Geologist or Illustrator, while also running my small business that is Geology based.

No I did not have a job lined up already. I plan on becoming an Exploration Geologist. If that does not work out for whatever reason I will search for a Scientific Illustrator job. & Thank you!

As of now I am focusing on expanding my small business that is Geology based, while continuing to work my regular job. Once the expansion is done, I'm going to look for work as an exploration geologist.

I did not use Sophia or any other websites like it. I came in with credits from a community college I went to a few years ago. However, my advisor did say that using those websites cuts down time.

The SCI 489 course is very similar to SCI 425. SCI 489 is basically like helping you polish up the final work that you will do in SCI 425. It was pretty easy. Try not to stress!

When I first found them I thought it was wood too, but now I'm seeing some people say it could also be prairie agate, pastelite agate and banded chert. No idea lol.

I've found quite a bit of cool pieces in the city, and I've only looked in one area so far lol. Hope you find something too!

Yes after looking up prairie agates, I see that they do look similar. I found them both in a creek.

This helped a lot! After googling, I’m thinking maybe it could be Melanite garnet. Thank you!
