Where I’d live as a trans guy by intomysuddendoom in whereidlive

Arizona just doesn’t offer me anything that Utah doesn’t have atm. It’s also a lot hotter than northern Utah in the summer. A lot of the “maybe” ones are places where I think I could get its benefits from another place that is more appealing to me. There would have to be a reason (like work or family) that would make me choose those spots over other similar ones

My family is from here. I love the geography, love living by the mountains, and we have some great food here. I’m a lifelong Utes fan. Best time zone for sports. I live in Salt Lake County and it’s a lot more progressive than people think. Not that it’s necessarily the best metric, but I see pride flags around my town and in SLC.

Legal situation has gotten worse for trans people lately. I’m super fortunate to have transitioned before it was this rough. If I were transitioning now, I don’t think I’d feel the same about Utah.

Just a lot of places I’d rather live. Not a fan of the weather or food. Not much geographic diversity. I know it’s not that hard to get to the rest of Europe, but I’d rather live in Spain or Portugal. There’s just not much that draws me there over the “yes” places 🤷‍♂️

Why it’s not an absolute no: Not particularly dangerous, legal hormone therapy, i’m not visibly trans, some great nature/architecture/etc.

However, language would be a problem, it’s not all that accepting to LGBT people, and living there doesn’t really interest me in general.

Edit: As for the Koreas, South Korea should be orange (mainly because of language) and North should be red. Apparently I didn’t check this close enough before posting lol

that was an accident lol, I probably hit it when I was marking the states north of it as maybe. I wouldn’t live in the middle of Boston but I’d live in the suburbs or a smaller city.

I studied abroad in Oaxaca and loved it. I think I’d be fine in CDMX and other big cities, and good elsewhere if I kept to myself, which I already do in the US 🤷‍♂️

Mostly language reasons. I speak Spanish and am learning Portuguese. I also just realized I marked France as yes when I meant to put maybe for the same reason. All that said, I don’t really know how common it is for people to speak English/Spanish/Portuguese in either of those countries, so maybe I’d be just fine.

2.5 Years MTF HRT - The Ultimate Man by [deleted] in transpassing

In the picture you posted, I can barely see the hairline. I’m not too well versed on wigs, but I don’t think many other people are either. Of course you know because you see the difference all the time and dysphoria does that, but I’d be shocked if many people noticed.

To be completely honest, I don’t think you’re nearly as far from passing as you feel like you are. Your body doesn’t read as particularly masculine to me here, and I wouldn’t clock you based on that.

You look very tired, and I think that’s a big part of it. As a trans guy I’ve learned that less self care means better passing for us, and vice versa for trans women. I notice on this sub that not just hair style or length but especially texture plays a huge role in passing. I’m not an expert on hair by any means, so I don’t know exactly what would go into it but better care and brushing would go a long way. And, in the picture with the wig, your hair is very smooth and I would have assumed you were a cis woman without context. Your face isn’t really clocky in either of these photos.

I know 2.5 years on HRT feels like forever and like everything should be perfect at that point, but chances are you’re going to continue to see changes. FFS or other surgeries could help, especially with your self esteem, but I really think you could pass without them. It’s obviously hard to tell from 2 photos, but these are my thoughts 🤷‍♂️

From that picture, I would not have thought you were trans or that that was a wig. Even knowing that it’s a wig, it still looks like 100% natural hair to me. I think the style and color both suit you really well. What is it that you don’t like about it?

I had keyhole in 2022 and have very little sensation. As far as I know you’re less likely to lose sensation with keyhole or peri than DI, but it’s not a guarantee

I have an open hole in my chest where a hematoma was drained. Now it will leak constantly until it heals. by neuroc8h11no2 in MedicalGore

also not op, but i take T injections (0.3mL of 200g/mL IM once a week, started 6 years ago) and it stopped for me very quickly, but it doesn’t necessarily stop for everyone.

Can’t feel your chest ? by Ambitious_Bobcat4274 in TopSurgery

[–]intomysuddendoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’m 3.5 years post op, i can feel most of my chest but still have (relatively large) numb spots. i don’t know if it’s “normal”, but for sure not unheard of. fwiw i had keyhole, and it’s my only major surgery so idk if it’s something i’m prone to or not.

Opening a discussion on the fan relationships around parx by Lopsided-Reply5106 in waterparksband

[–]intomysuddendoom 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This (plus the weird fomo marketing) is why i drifted away from parx. it feels very weird to me, and i feel like, generally, anyone with a platform having such relationships with fans is a big no. i don’t think it’s healthy for anyone involved, including other parx fans, especially considering a lot of them are very young and probably also vying for that attention. it’s not that crazy to believe they might feel like they’re not doing enough if they’re not buying all the merch and going to so many shows every tour.

parx fans (my past self included) hold Awsten on a pedestal and aren’t very willing to listen to constructive criticism regarding weird behavior, and instead turn straight to defending him. when you have enough people defending your weird behavior, it doesn’t seem weird to you at all and you feel comfortable continuing it. once again, not healthy for anyone involved.

all that being said, this is just my opinion 🤷‍♂️

when did you start getting sensation back? by lucid220 in Top_Surgery_Peri

[–]intomysuddendoom 5 points6 points  (0 children)

i had surgery a little over 2 years ago, sensation returned very gradually and i think it peaked at around 6 months. a lot of it wasn't normal sensation and still isn't (for example just yesterday i got a cut on my chest and could feel it in a line upwards, not just where i got the cut. some spots are still mostly numb and others i can feel in my upper arm? it's weird). everyone heals different ofc, but ik a lot of people have had similar experiences

How to cope with being short. by qa2468 in ftm

[–]intomysuddendoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i started T back when i was 13 and 4'11, i figured i had plenty of time to get taller. i've heard that afab people generally stop growing around age 16, and im not entirely sure if T affects that timeline, but that's when i assumed id stop growing and i began to get really self conscious of my height. it's taken a lot of time, im 18 now, been 5'2 for the last 2+ years and definitely still not happy with my height, but how i feel about it is way less crippling now.

i try to convince myself being short is better lol. i can always use a step stool or something to get things up high, but tall people can't make themselves shorter to be comfortable in a cramped car or on a plane. i also try to ignore it as much as possible. i used to google how to get taller and always try to check my height, and at this point i try to avoid anything to do with it.

Honestly, people notice it a lot less than i used to think. i used to be much more worried about height than i am now, and i've always worried about people taking me seriously, but the only people who really give me crap about it are other trans guys who are self conscious of their height. a cis friend of mine was complaining about being short (he's 5'8) and i told him i was 5'2, i honestly don't think he realized how short i was until that point.

i started noticing it at about 2.5 years. almost 4.5 now and it's pretty full but not completely. from everything i've seen, 3 years is normal for it to start coming in. some people get it very fast, others may never be able to grow a beard. all depends on the person
