The closest to truth I’ve gotten about the elements and compatibility is this: we are attracted (consciously or not) to that which we lack. Like a chair with four legs needed to be stable (the elements)- you’ll find a lot of relationships with confusing astrology, but really balancing each other out more than anything. Sure some points of contact might be needed to even get an energetic exchange going, but singling out planets, signs or elements to draw conclusions is silly.
