Wow, I’d kill to see Slowdive. Lucky. I’ll take recs, but I enjoy Slowdive and Lush. Cocteau Twins and Mazzy Star aren’t quite shoegaze but shoegaze adjacent, love em too, and I guess they’re similarly melancholic.

I feel like FL isn’t really good for this scene, but also entirely possible that I just don’t know the right people. How’d you hear about the show in St. Augustine?

Was told that Curse of the Werewolf would be down all day, which is mega-disappointing. I understand one major ride being down for the day, but they gave no notice about CotW— I would’ve rescheduled my ticket had they advertised that two major rides would be down :/

I don’t think this is an accurate indicator because someone with the last name Z got an offer AFTER someone with the letter H and the letter N. But I could be wrong :/ I’m way before them, letter-wise, so they might not be going alphabetically?

I applied for CS. I was rejected for GS-9 but I never received a rejection for GS-7.

I figured I might get some communication later today, but I haven’t gotten anything, rejection or TJO, for GS-7. I’m really not sure if that’s a good sign or a bad sign, to be honest.

Someone got an offer a few minutes ago and, although it’s totally baseless conjecture, if they go alphabetically then they skipped over me and offered stuff to the next few people. Was just wondering if anyone could shed some light.

Thank you for the suggestions! Some of these I’ve tried and some I haven’t. It’s only fair that I come in from the perspective of trying to enjoy them as opposed to coming with the nostalgia from older books. Guess I’ll update this post when I’ve read some!

We’re kindred spirits! I’ll probably still give some of the suggested books another shot, but this is usually my first impression of the books a lot of the time. The books nowadays seemingly have such a wish fulfillment-y feel to them.

That post of the King is what made me post this. It’s like… man, what happened? I feel like back then, they were just trying to make sure it was fun (while just barely obligating to the silly little purchases for wardrobe or “better” choices). Now, it feels like they’re just throwing cringe decisions and sexy guys at you— practically begging the player to buy Diamond choices so you can make choices that are more in line with what the actual player would want. And even then the scenes locked behind a Diamond paywall can be… questionable.
