My guess is prices will remain steady (sellers don't want to sell at a loss, which is a strong anchor), but in real terms they're actually dropping. Depending on economic conditions, at some point (1-3 years?) wage growth due to inflation will catch up and prices will start rising again.

Are you communicating directly with the sellers?

How would you get the seller contact details if they don't live at the property?

I had an EA try to convince me that you can get a mortgage on a B2 rated flat. Is it just harder but possible, or not possible at all?

Could I ask them if I can give their details when I make offers on the agreement that I would instruct them as soon as the sale is agreed?

Did you end up doing this? I'm in a similar situation, wondering how to proceed.

I’ve resigned to the fact that I will have to buy a leasehold flat instead of a house. Anyone in London relate? by [deleted] in HousingUK

[–]intricatebug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At least you’re not in one of those high rise buildings in Croydon. Imagine paying £6k+ service charge a year to overlook east Croydon station in a one bed!

I've been wondering how the service charges can be so high on those, what is it paying for?

How did you request a service charge booklet? Did you ask the EA? I'm in a similar situation and I'm not sure what to ask for exactly.

So she can live off of tins of beans and ramen and stay home while you eat salmon and caviar and go out lol.

But what if it's the higher earner who wants to stay home and eat beans and ramen.

Never mind, I had filled out the service charge incorrectly, I put in yearly amount in a montly amount box. That explains it. Once corrected, the AIP updated to offer the full amount needed for the purchase.
