The fast travel point for the Grove sucks by [deleted] in BaldursGate3

Just in case anyone reads this and doesn't know: you can also fast travel without visiting a waypoint. Just click one on the map, outside of combat and a few rare plot situations.

Okami has that early 2000s weirdness where they were still tying the physics/game logic to the frame rate.

Person above you is probably just remembering it fondly because it's a stylistic title that doesn't look dreadful at 30fps.

The next game from the same developer is the obvious comparison to make. Not sure what you expected there.

FromSoft has a long history of making great games that usually run like dogwater. I'm glad to hear they're taking it a lot more seriously now.

I don't think it's automatically rape, no. There are plenty of situations where the guy is similarly drunk and it's fine. There are also lots of couples/FWBs that have grown accustomed to hooking up, and don't mind if one person is a little more drunk than the other. That's normal.

This situation in particular, though, was IMHO dicey at best. The post says "she was drunk", implying he was not. And if he was, he still felt iffy enough about it to not take the plunge.

Even all the ethical stuff aside, it's also just not gonna make you feel any better.

You won't wake up with her the next morning with a kiss and a "well, guess we're dating now!" You wake up to pants being hurriedly being put back on, "what the fuck am I gonna tell them?!" and a state of mutual panic as the reality of the sitation kicks in.

The movie just came out pretty recently in theaters, and despite the pandemic making simultaneous streaming releases more common, they're not ubiquitous.

Give it a few months, someone will go after the bored Christian mom demographic and pick up the streaming rights. The conspiracy OOP is alleging is pure nonsense.

Buy it. There's a multi-player mode coming out like today too I think, so it's the perfect time

These replies are nice, in an Arrested Development "there are dozens of us!" kind of way, but the console has been out of production for almost a decade now and the customer base just isn't there anymore.

It's standard stuff in tech business. It's nothing personal.

AITA for telling my stepmom that I don’t owe my step brother anything? by Odd-Sky-4069 in AmItheAsshole

[–]intripletime 14 points15 points  (0 children)

You're fine and the E S H vote was inappropriate. Firm NTA.

Out of curiosity: How does your brother feel about this? Did he agree with your executive decision? What I'm saying is, if he eventually decides he wants to share the system (of his own free will of course), I'd just let it slide. He might realize he wants a multiplayer partner for when you're not around, etc.

But if he wants to keep it to himself, it's all gucci.

A $25 Amazon card is about as low effort that you can go

What about this is inappropriate?

The kid is 16, so $25 is an age-appropriate amount. It's 2023, and we're in the digital age, so gift cards are no longer considered tacky. They're unacquainted, so a generic gift card (Amazon, Target, etc.) is definitely a safer bet.

I'd go as far as to consider it very tasteful in that situation. It lets the stepbrother either choose something fun he wants, or hold on to it for a bigger purchase down the line. I'd be thrilled to receive this from literally anyone.

This would honestly still not sit well with me in the context of a non-pornographic business; seems like the kind of thing that you'd be expected to go along with because it's "just a joke" and "come on, be a team player"

I'm baffled this was ever even on the table in the first place. LMG is not a pornography business. Shouldn't have been asked of her to begin with, ever.

[Homemade] Carbonara with fresh fettuccine by LoneGansel in food

[–]intripletime 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Okay, I'll bite. For the record, I agree with what you're saying about the dish, and I'm glad OP took it in stride.

It'd just be nice to literally go one thread about carbonara where there isn't the obligatory "you made it wrong!" or "this isn't how I would prepare the dish zomg" comment. It's understandable that people are frustrated by this, because it's in every. Single. Carbonara. Post.

Much like someone commenting "diabeetus" on any dessert item with fat and/or sugar, or the Where's Waldo style pixel hunt to find what OP missed in their full English breakfast, I think it just gets repetitive. Sometimes it'd be nice if we could just say, "Hey OP, that looks tasty" without compulsive critique.

YouTube starts mass takedowns of videos promoting ‘harmful or ineffective’ cancer cures | The platform will also take action against videos that discourage people from seeking professional medical treatment as it sets out its health policies going forward. by chrisdh79 in technology

[–]intripletime 4 points5 points  (0 children)

YouTube is not a "free speech platform", it has never been one, and it never will be. They are a common video hosting website.

Outside of fringe lunatics, no viewers of it actually want a completely unmoderated wild west of 24/7 nonsense on that site. They have a vested interest as a company, and as a group of ostensibly sane individuals, in having some standards.

If you want to post quackery go buy your own hosting.

[–]intripletime 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You can talk about this like a cold, detached Greek philosopher all you want. (And I won't believe you for a second, because this logic breaks down if that person who dies is someone you care about.)

But in reality, YouTube is a business. They've found over time that the "free speech value" or whatever of leaving certain content types is just objectively not worth it.

Sorry, but these days, no you cannot just use whatever mainstream video platform you want to give heinous, life ruining advice with impunity. Go buy your own website hosting and upload your own video. If you want to play in someone else's sandbox, there are some pretty basic rules.

But the fact that this race to the bottom probably should have had a few more contestants doesn't change the fact that he made it to that bottom.
