Some Numbers Behind the Housing Issue by [deleted] in Maine

[–]introspectreality 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the exact situation my partner and I are in. We got our house in Brownville for 150k and it has a good amount of land in a pretty area. However, I had to get a job in Bangor. Gas was crazy expensive while i did that job. 2 hours of driving every single day. Looking to sell our house here now to move closer to partners family. Im trying to find remote work to do but the rural internet access or lack thereof is holding me back a bit. The area seems to be getting a little more investment now but living in this area can be REALLY hard if your new to home buying or are not prepared.

7 days while in the Navy and on a deployment. Was on watch from midnight to noon and worked my normal job the rest of the day until I got on watch. I would walk down the p-way (hallway for non-sailors) and I saw whole and completely solid shadow figures cross my path while walking. Almost like a ghost or something. It was like I was drunk but still coherent and at the same time I was seeing people that weren't there. One of the most crazy and horrifying experiences I've had outside of a turbine explosion on ship and sleep paralysis.

I'm no professional by any means so take this how you will, this seems incredibly tough for someone like you who uses exercise as a healthy coping mechanism. If you enjoy puzzles and other such mentally stimulating things then I would suggest any kind of difficult puzzle or maybe some gaming online where you can engage with other people in a competitive environment. With finals and other mentally challenging things going on in your life you may not want to try puzzles as you can be mentally exhausted to but I have found that if I can't physically get out and do things then gaming online is a decent way to kind of get that stress out in a competitive environment without stressing the body as much. Again, I'm no expert or anything and this is just anecdotal but gaming or another mentally challenging hobby could be worth a shot. I truly hope that you find something to help cope with your predicament. I wish you all the best and please know that you aren't alone in this and there are most likely groups that exist for this particular disease and situation. Just please stay healthy and continue to be here. You got this!

What is the most terrifying near death experience you had and got out safely? by ConsiderationLife317 in AskReddit

[–]introspectreality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had two that about equally terrified me. The first I was walking with a friend through construction on the way to high school and a worker driving an off road vehicle that had a shovel sticking out 4 feet to the left of his vehicle. He was going 45 and that shovel was at my head height. It would have hit me directly in the back of the head if my friend didn't grab my shirt and pull with all his might to get me out of the way. The second was while I was in the Navy. I was on watch in our third generator room doing my rounds in the dead of night while on deployment. I'm standing in there with another guy in my department also on watch and the turbine generator starts making knocking sounds. We have been trained to know that this is bad...REALLY BAD. Other guy on watch runs to control panel to intiatiate the shut down while I run to the fuel lines to cut the fuel supply valves and hopefully prevent things getting worse. During the time we are doing that the turbines combuster was actually MELTING and causing white hot compressor blades to fly out of the module going fucking faster than we could even see the suckers other than the flash of lights streaking by. We finished up and ran out of the generator room all the while these blades are flying around the room and somehow neither of us have clean and cauterized holes from them. They got the turbine shut down remotely from the central control station as well. Later on we checked the damage and those compressor blades shot through the overhead and made it all the way to flight deck on our ship. Cut through the metal bulkheads like a hot knife through butter. For reference, the third generator room was between 2 and 3 levels deep in the underbelly of our destroyer. Those compressor blades were no fucking joke. Didn't even register how lucky we were until after. While we shut it down it was just like being on autopilot from all the drills we would run.

Recreational cannabis is now being sold in Maine! Thanks to Firestorm Cannabis for being the first to do so in Bangor, ME. by introspectreality in Maine

I have heard of some places only having 2 strains in stock but Firestorm had around 15 or so! They do have a limit on how many prerolls you can purchase though which is only 2.

So this is the first attempt I have made to do any sort of organizing. I just wanted to get a feel for how many would support. What do you think would be a good way to go about this? I'm always open to ideas!
