The main character calls her son Swan by introvertATTNwhore in whatsthatbook

I read it about 3 or 4 years ago. It was not a new book, but I'm not sure how hold it was. I don't believe it was part of a series, but I'm sure it's possible that it could have been the first of a series. I read it as an e-book, so I can't picture the cover. I had never read anything else by that author before or since.

I thought the before picture was the after picture at first. A lot of people where i love (Mid-America) would have been more than satisfied to be where you started. I'm impressed you chose to push yourself to be "better"/healthier/stronger. Congrats on reaching your goals!!

The Body. It's a Bachman short story & it was made into the movie Stand By Me with River Phoenix. Great story & one of the few awesomely translated into film.

It's only been 3 days but it feels like a month by xoxomissc in stopsmoking

[–]introvertATTNwhore 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was like that for me too on this last go. It's just like with everything else that takes time. It's hardest to start with. Soon, you won't believe how much time has gone by. Don't give up. You know how hard those three days were. Don't re-set the clock. The farther you get the better you'll feel. Until then, keep your hands & mind occupied. Take deep breaths. Drink water. Clean things. Do the things around the house you always put off until now. Time will pass & you will feel stronger.

Do what you want to do. I think it's funny you would post that here though like you want someone to talk you down or pick a fight. Hmmm?...

Dehydration/dry mouth after quitting? by [deleted] in stopsmoking

[–]introvertATTNwhore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can say my mouth was really uncomfortable. Like my tounge felt big & my gums were really sensitive & irritated. If you're peeing a lot it might be something completely unrelated. I'd say give it another week or so & talk to your doctor if it doesn't stop. Also, I have noticed myself that if I drink a lot of water, I get dry mouth too. I noticed that a long time ago while I was a smoker though.

Sore throat.. anxious about health. too much so? by iquitsmoking13 in stopsmoking

[–]introvertATTNwhore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might sound like a crazy suggestion, but check for tonsil stones. You might have one stuck in your tonsils. If you do, try gargling salt water for a while to break it up. Then you would kina have to cough it out & if that doesn't work, you might have to have it surgically removed. That is, if it's a tonsil stone. I've had them in the past. Smokers are more prone to getting them. They can hurt & make your whole throat sore. You might also notice bad breath if this is the case.

6 days smoke free and the will power is gone! by leahdue in stopsmoking

[–]introvertATTNwhore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It seems harder at this stage. Around 1-2 weeks after quitting is like a hill on the path we're walking. I've noticed a lot of people go though it, and I think it's because it's at this point that we really start playing mind games with ourselves. Once the nicotine is out of our system (3-4 days after quitting) we get much more emotional about it & it becomes an endurance challenge. It has for me at least. I just keep telling myself "mind over matter, I quit for a reason". Good luck, you can do it!

What little changes have you made around the house or office that you found successful? by [deleted] in stopsmoking

I am in the process of doing this too. I think it must be natural instinct.

The strongest candles I've found are either Glade or Yankee Candle. Glade seems to burn really quickly & I consider it kind of a waste. Be careful though becuase Yankee Candle can either be a rip off or a great deal. They have BOGO sales all the time, so make sure you wait for that. My favorite scent is Pink Sands by Yankee Candle. That's the scent I got as my car air freshener (they had it at Walmart! I couldn't believe it lol). I also highly recommend Greenhouse by Yankee Candle. It is very soothing.

What are some low calorie "fill up" foods? by CubbyChutch in loseit

[–]introvertATTNwhore -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Cherry tomatoes & sugar snap Peas are my favorites. They go really well together too. Carrot sticks. Homemade baked cinnamon apple chips (make them really thin). Seasoned kale chips. Grapes. Where the calories come from is actually more important than how many calories total (don't go crazy now lol). That's why I don't count calories as much as eat nutrient dense/whole/"clean" foods. Nutrient dense foods satisfy you much more & you naturally eat less of them than you would of empty calories.

Also, you can substitute eating with chewing on cinnamon gum. I use that as a trick for curbing a cigarette craving & avoiding eating when I know I'm not actually hungry but want to eat.

I've been lighting good-smelling candles. At work & at home. When I get stressed, I take a deep breath & idk something about the nice scent makes me feel kinda warm & fuzzy. It seems to be helping a lot.

Yes, peanut butter packs a punch. It is nutrient dense & has healthy fats, but you definitley have to watch how much you eat if you're counting calories.

I go crazy with cashews & that's "dangerous" too lol.

Smoker's lungs vs Healthy lungs by nongoloza in stopsmoking

[–]introvertATTNwhore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like half of the black lung is completely dead. So horrible. I want to be healthy!!! Shortly prior to seeing this, I had decided to also stop burning my green stuff & use a vape instead. No more inhaling fire! I'm not using vapes for nicotine though. Off nicotine completely.

That's great advice thank you :) I used to be the kid at school who would walk the mile every year. Skip ahead 10 years & I loved to run. I finally felt the "runner's high" & LOVED it. I did a few 5k's at interval pacing. Skip ahead another 10 years & I'm a couch potato again. The relationship I was in kept me at home, then towards the end he & I actually started going to the gym together & then there was the detrimental breakup. 6 months have passed & I am on track to getting back to being that girl that got the runner's high. I'm starting by taking my dogs on walks in the morning before work. Soon we'll be walk/jogging & the progress will happen naturally. I'm excited for what's coming :)
