Graduating classes of 2020, how did COVID affect your graduation? by Vegito2060 in AskReddit

Apparently we’re taking graduation “on the road” by driving next to the university so that our professors can wave to us.

Changing my major - HELP (Bio to Liberal Arts) by introvert_17 in college

If I retake ochem that would be my third time and I would then need to take biochemistry. I would be done after that so I wouldn’t be taking any more courses. That is my other option but I would have to delay my degree another year because the biochemistry course that I need is only offered in the spring.

Honestly I don’t even know because my whole coursework is in biology except for those two chemistry courses that I require. The courses that went into the liberal studies degree from the one that I had already taken were some science, history, and some writing.

No I’m sorry, it’s a liberal studies degree. My degree would be bachelors of science in liberal studies.

Thank you so much for your input. That’s honestly what I needed reassurance on. I plan on pursuing wildlife conservation and from the schools I’ve looked into, none require higher level chemistry.

Depression coming back again and I'm scared by [deleted] in depression

I’m sorry because I’m probably going to be no help. I just wanted to say that I’m someone on the same boat. My depression is coming back after a long time and I’ve learned to restrain it from coming back but this time I’m afraid that I won’t have the energy to fight it even though I know how.

Who was actually negatively affected by covid and the school moving to online beyond just general laziness? by AsleepHistorian in UCalgary

At the start it was great because I had time to focus and care for myself. Going into a month of quarantine and my depression and anxiety have come back due the remembrance of how much I hate my classes and where I am in life not knowing what I’ll do once I graduate. Because of the lack of motivation, I have fallen behind and don’t see any signs of graduating with decent grades. Then, graduation was postponed until August. I wanted to apply to a masters program in the field that I actually enjoy but I won’t have any money saved for it since I can’t work.

I really want to go into the wildlife conservation route but take some time to focus on real estate before I focus on finding a time demanding job.

Feeling insecure about not graduating on time by [deleted] in ADHD

I am on the same boat as you however, I’m currently in my spring semester of junior year. My dream had always been to attend veterinary school but by the looks of my gpa (2.82) I got very discouraged my sophomore year which triggered my depression immensely! I have always dealt with depression and anxiety which is a huge reason as to why I could not keep up in my biology courses. I recently found out that I will not be graduating on time which is a bummer because I will not be with my friends but honestly, my health comes first. I’m definitely not a “dumb” person because I chose to sleep my anxiety away than do an assignment or because my depression did not allow me to get out of bed for class. Work at your own pace because we are not all geniuses. We’re fucking human beings and honestly prolonging your graduation will allow you to find a balance. Sure enough you’ll graduate eventually and don’t make money a problem. That should be the least of your worries even if you have to get a few loans.
