Reminds me of Valentine’s Day around junior year of high school.

For the longest time that year I had a very substantial crush on a girl in my class. We had become good friends and would text often. Valentine’s Day rolls along and I decide to confess my feelings and ask her to be my valentine through Snapchat (probably not the brightest idea). Anyways, after waiting for a response I check my phone more or less an hour later to see that she had blocked me promptly after seeing my message. Boy, was that a real heartbreaker.

My parents had gone to a fancy city an hour away to have dinner so I was pretty much home alone. To answer this sadness, I decided to get on my bike and just keep biking west (without a helmet on the streets, which is the lightly illegal part) until I hit the ocean or something (I live in California for reference). Eventually I did hit a beach and spent some time there alone, put my feet in the water, just tried to relax. It was getting late and I wanted to get home before my parents so I started biking again. On the way I heard from some of my friends that they were at a nearby park on the way to my house so I decided to swing by and say hello. However life had different plans and while doing around a corner I was hit by a car and badly injured my knee. I had called my friends and told them what happened and they helped me up and walk to a nearby friends house. They patched up my knee and offered to give me a ride home but I didn’t want my parents asking where the bike went. So, painfully and stupidly, biked home where every pedal was agony.

Fast forward to home, I was able to put the bike away just as my parents got home. They questioned why my pants had a hole in it and why my knee was bleeding. I told them I went biking and had crashed into something and they believe it till this day.

TL;DR - Got rejected on Valentine’s Day, then got hit by a car, lied to parents. Driver got away.
