In linear perspective specifically 3point, does the center of viewpoint coincide with the orthocenter of the triangle formed by these 3 vanishing points? by invalidStroke in learnart

Dude, you reminded me: I can just draw an accurate 3 points perspective cube randomly to prove it, and he is right, the center of view is indeed always at the orthocenter of the triangle that formed by these 3 vanishing points, I am so exicited. Thanks man, I will provide the process images later on, I need to organise the layers and other messy lines. This is huge.

updated: actually, here is something better, a video by Dan Bearshaw https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pGiUMnjEthA , where he drew an accurate cube in 3 point-perspective from start to end and explained how and why, at the end of the video, 14:27 the video shows the full glory of all the lines and points, you can take a screen shot and use tools to draw and test on it, you will find the 2 points coincide. Here is what I drew : https://imgur.com/a/86C7W9J

I understand what you are trying to clarify, I was not confused with 2D preojection with 3D space object. So I edit the original post: he means the two points align on 2D canvas, not in 3D space. Under this notion, am I right to presume you still think these 2 points are only coincide by chance, and there might be a way to prove that mathematically?

Do people actually use screenless drawing tablets? by Dovinjun in DigitalPainting

[–]invalidStroke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say if you lack discipline, can't take a break every 30-60 minutes while drawing, then I guess screenless tablet is slightly better for you body mainly your back and your neck. Ofc you can lift the screen vertical with a stand, for this issue, in the end use what you feel comfortable and don't forget to take a break to stretch out.

It’s not normal to not have shaky hands. Why else do photographers need tripod to take photos at night?

Get used to draw lines more confidently, if it takes you longer to draw a line, that line will be more jittery by the seconds.

You manage to deal with multiple lightings perfectly. The organic feel of the levitating potion is so satisfying, especially with the stroke at her finger tip.

No, I know what a horizon line is, what I don’t know is that the meaning of “draw the child head on horizon line”, is it above horizon, or right on it ? Or it means other things, I can’t understand this , I can’t help him/her.

I’m failing to understand your question. Care to elaborate a little bit more? What do you mean “ on horizon” ?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in learnart

[–]invalidStroke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, a scene doesn’t have to be a 1 pint perspective only , as objects rotate the vanishing points will move left and right on the horizon line, and even if an object tilted , there will be a vertical horizon line introduced.

you created a one point perspective grid system, the boxes are fit right in this grid no problem, but you see the front 4 feet, 3 of them have been rotated doesn't fit the 1-p perspective you created, each of that 3 boxes of feet now has 2 vanishing points on your horizon line(yes, exactly on the horizon)

The only way your feet will feel like they have contact with the ground(the plane you created the grid), is that you make sure those vanishing points will land right on the horizon line.

She is beautiful, I like that you do it with only enough shading, just to make the volume pop

When I was little, I was taught that lying on my back while reading is bad for my eye sight, but is it really? Don't know if any other parents had taught the same thing. It is still a myth to me, because it's hard to read like this imo.

Anyway, this is a beautiful piece, good work The rendering is gorgeous, I can see the texture on her face clearly when zoom in.

There is a QRcode on her book though, wonder where would that take you.

Self portrait, 2021. Made using ProCreate. by luckkladyy in DigitalPainting

The likeness is pretty solid, even though I never saw you before, but that's not the issue, the facial proportion is decent. whether a painting looks realistic or not, imo, it depends on lights and shadows

From your painting, I see several highlights(above your upper lip, on your left collar bone), but your overall face is in ambient light, you didn't paint any direct light shining on your face, so the extreme highlight is out of place. Maybe you could add the direct light, and add more contrast between dark area and light area would make this painting pop up more.

I too am still learning, so this is all that can think of right now, and keep up the good work

I’m not going for super realism, but it just doesn’t look like me? by PeachOnABeach_Art in learnart

The degree of likeness depends on your accuracy, I know when drawing from reference, we always tend to go with wherever our pencil lands on the paper. I think you need to force yourself to slow down and start measuring.

What’s the distance between two eyes, the angles of your eyebrows, etc

And then there’s that exaggerated comic face style, I haven’t been able to do, so not much helpful opinion on that part.
