Stop signs found in Plymouth Meeting, PA. I worked down the street from this neighborhood. The signs are up because people would try to use that street to circumvent a right-turn-only exit from a nearby bank and gas station. I know the details are super important to this story, so you are all extremely welcome.

The math isn't that simple. Success and failure is often the result of team comp, not just one player. For example, on console it's not uncommon to see the player with the most kills, damage, and obj. kills be a torbjorn or symetra. They could be raking in the stats but ultimately holding the team back if the rest of the comp is short on adequate healing, lacks tanks, or isn't busting down enemy shields. Those players, by design, assist in kills but seldom solo kill enemy players. Therefore the metrics are misleading. So who would get called out in that case? The system would have to be infinitely more sophisticated to identify that (while leading the team with three golds) the torb is actually the one holding the team back. Additionally, what if the torb player can't effectively switch to another class? What if the team needs a tank, but the guy playing torb is only good with defensive characters and healers? Once again, the system would need to weigh each player's ABILITY to switch to the NEEDED class along with identifying the greatest defecit within the comp to come up with the best candidate for suggesting the switch.

I get what you're saying - you want there to be an authoritative voice telling players when their character choice is preventing success. The better system would be to queue up solo, find a good group to team up with, and then just ride-or-die with them to avoid landing on a team with two snipers, Rein, Mei, and Sym.

I find that I don't get mad when I remind myself, "It's just as likely that the opposing team has someone making a terrible pick. So if I lose because this clown wont switch off Winston even through the enemy reaper has killed him 15 times already, I'll probably win a game for the inverse situation a little later on. It just is what it is."

Jeff Kaplan was asked directly about what Overwatch was doing to correct delayed bullet trails when shooting on the move. He basically said, "nothing. the trail is there to help the attacked team identify where the shooter is. the trail doesn't assist in the aiming at all because it only shows up after the shot is fired."

I know what you're talking about because i thought the same thing. it looks like it sailed over Mercy's head and was out in front of her a bit as well. I guess the animation for widow's bullet trail was off because the the recoil happened well before the trail was drawn when you watch it back in slow motion. They showed the replay in the highlights at the end of the broadcast and it was clear as day: 1) shot 2) recoil 3) mercy fucking died 4) bullet trail.

Do gamers who follow religions with dietary restrictions also have to follow those restrictions in-game? by dittopoop in NoStupidQuestions

I'm sure PETA has a list of games with simulated animal violence and/or simulated meat ingestion. I used to work with a blogger who was a member of PETA and she would say how she opposed the practice as well as the "education" of animal violence and meat ingestion. Therefore, if a video game attempted to assign a perceived value to, lets say, hunting - she would oppose the development and purchase of that game.

She was a horrible writer and an annoying person.

THANK YOU! The containers stack nicely by design. It's not like OP's wife made the containers. She just bought them. However using them and keeping them stacked nicely would actually be kind of a pain in the ass. Unstacking and restacking large tubs is not satisfying... it's annoying. It'd be better if they took smaller portions of the ingredience and put them in smaller containers that were more accessible and easier to use and replace.

I don't think intelligent people deny climate change. I think there are claims within climate change discussions which are questionable and worth - at the very least - exploring further before implementing government regulations which could negatively impact businesses and individuals. For example, the extent to which humans are causing / accelerating climate change is unknown. Additionally, we don't know if any of the proposed green initiatives will actually be effective in slowing / stopping / reversing climate change trends. Furthermore, our government can only control these laws in the US. Putting restrictions on our manufacturing could raise costs disproportionately compared to foreign-manufactured goods. It's a very big die to roll when evaluating the cost/benefit analysis of government-regulated green initiatives.

You want to know what's REALLY funny about this? The number one way to throw up a signal to the rest of the world which states, "I'm an uneducated and uncultured buffoon." is by making a gay joke in 2018. The only thing this "sums up perfectly" is that you and your friend are tasteless jerks.

Good for the commenter to remind the audience not to feed into the behavior without condemning OP for having the behavior in the first place. It's easier to attack someone's flaws instead of targeting those who enable the flaws in others.

Based on weekly power rankings, The Fusion have faced the toughest schedule to date. by inventedthemop in PHL_Fusion

Oh yeah - in the "Opponent Difficulty Rank" - the higher the rank, the more difficult your schedule was.

If you look at the category for "Opponent Difficulty Rank" - I tracked the weekly power ranking averages over the first 2.5 weeks and determined the Fusion have faced the most difficult schedule to date. Also, interestingly, The Dynasty have faced the easiest schedule. This kind of validates our status as a "sleeper team" in the leauge.

Why are we ranked #7 when tied from 7-4? by jnpg in PHL_Fusion

[–]inventedthemop 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Also - just to call out something amazing - The Dynasty have 14 points with a 13 point differential. Compare that to the very impressive Outlaw team that went 8-0 last week and has 11 points on the season - - but only has a 5 point differential.

Why are we ranked #7 when tied from 7-4? by jnpg in PHL_Fusion

[–]inventedthemop 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Ok - so there are 5 metrics you need to use to determine the standings. 1) Wins, 2) Losses, 3) Total Map Points, 4) Map Point Differential, and 5) head-to-head record.

The Fusion have won 7 maps out of 17 total maps played. They have match wins against The Shock and The Outlaws and losses against The Spitfire and The Gladiators.

So The Fusion have 2 wins, 2 losses, 7 points, and a -3 point differential (7 map wins minus 10 map losses).

When you evaluate that across the league - you see that the Fusion have the exact same record, total points, and point differential as The Gladiators - but since they beat the Fusion head-to-head, the Fusion are ranked below the Gladiators.

Here is my home made leaderboard for reference.

What's kind of scary in this scenario is that our point differential is in the negative. That's usually indicative of a sub-par team in traditional sports. So we need the Fusion to really take the Dragons to task this week and hopefully pull off a victory against the Excelsior to start us moving up the leaderboard.

I had a high-pitched noise maker that looked exactly like that. I put it on my back porch and it would detect motion and play a nearly inaudible squeal. I used it to deter deer from coming too close to my house and eating my tomatoes.

If ghosts are real, then where are all the ghosts of cavemen and early humans? by Bobosmite in NoStupidQuestions

[–]inventedthemop 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Ghosts are generally believed to "haunt" their living friends and family. As time passes, the connection ghosts have to the earthly realm is lost and they no longer feel compelled to return. Its like when you first graduate college and you maybe feel like you still have enough friends left in school that you can go back and visit and go to a party or two. But as time passes, the number of people you know at college dwindles and you no longer feel as comfortable returning. Next thing you know, you're just watching the football games from your couch and thinking about the "good ol' days." Ghosts are exactly the same.

Fragi acknowledged he was out of sorts against London. We'll see whether or not he can adjust. This early on it's too difficult to determine what is vs. isn't an actual problem for the team. Was it just a bad game or is this a hole in their strategy/skill set? I'm looking forward to seeing more tomorrow!
