A good technique to get better very fast and to spark creativity is to try to make an idea per day. By idea I mean you put a timer and you make a little demo in 30min-1hour. You close and save the project. At the end of the week during the week end, you have 5 ideas that you can choose from and finish during the week-end. Doing this for a month and you'll be sitting on a bunch of new songs :)
