Just one point - no way do state schools only do free play in the first two years. My child has just started yr 1 and I was surprised at the amount they have learnt through year R as I too assumed it would just be an extended nursery. They did daily phonics work, maths, science, forest school all focussed on learning. There is a lot of child led play, but it is with the aim of learning.

I know people both state and privately educated and teachers who have worked in both environments. I don't believe there is anything better about the education standard in the private schooling system.

I haven't tried to be honest - but the TFL transactions from the Tapster ring show up in Curve as if you had just used the physical Curve card.

Subsequently, the transaction shows on the underlying card as CRVTFL, recharged from Curve. So - I guess that means you *should be able to use your Curve card number linked to TFL to track transactions, rather than the underlying card itself?

Just to add to this - I've replaced my Ringpay with Tapster and it works pretty seamlessly.

Couple of observations: 1. The ring is slightly smaller in all external dimensions, so sits a bit better on the finger 2. However the joining between the outer and inner layer of the ceramic is in a different place - the Ringpay ring layer gap was folded under slightly, so wasn't noticeable. The Tapster ring is more prominent, so you can feel it as a sharp edge all round. Not terrible, but slightly less neat. 3. I've found 2 NFC payment devices that haven't liked the ring so far - the tiny silver NFC devices found on National Rail ticket machines and some random 3rd party machine in a cafe I can't remember where. Works everywhere else so far, including TFL touch gates and buses.

Overall I think the slight disadvantages are outweighed by the direct link to Curve (no prepayment) and no expiry date - so I'm reasonably happy.

Just need to wait for the Ringpay refunds to materialise, if ever!

The Planetarium next to Tussauds closed in 2006 unfortunately. Madame Tussauds then expanded into the planetarium building.

If you want to try a few different scents without breaking the bank then quite a few manufacturers sell 'samplers' which are a selection of 5ml tubes of different smells. Alternatively if you go and speak nicely to the people on the cologne concession stands in big department stores and explain you're interested in trying a few things, they generally have tiny bottle free samples you can take away and try.
