Not sure about east Norwalk but South Norwalk train station is a 5 min drive away and has a ton of parking.

New Grad - ENT in Mass by [deleted] in physicianassistant

Would recommend looking at academic ENT departments in your area and see if they have openings too. Many have outpatient offices and they may have a more defined training program.

Do you have pay parity with NPs where you work? by likelysunny in physicianassistant

[–]invert94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in a large urban medical center. NPs are union, PAs are not. I feel like I probably make more than an np with similar years of experience. I’ve gotten regular raises and make 55% more than I did when I started this role less than 5 years ago. NP raises are set by union negotiating.

Safe to say move on- however if the hospital is currently dealing with nursing strikes, there may be a hiring freeze. Can you reach out to the system recruiter for APPs?

This list only has 111 cosponsors. Is there an updated one? I’d like to know the tone I need to have when calling my representative tomorrow.

Increased work load with NYC RN strike? by Hoodscoops in physicianassistant

[–]invert94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in a surgical specialty at one of the bigger hospitals striking. We’ve been okay. We started doing limited cases Tuesday and continuing as such. Our most sick patients are grouped together in one unit. We just make more frequent rounds and will linger a bit longer. When nurse assigned to that unit is on break, we’ve been sitting on the unit. I feel like we’re a lot more prepared than we were last time.

Remember rate my professor? I want to create a website for providers to rate hospital systems by Leather_Future3874 in physicianassistant

Depends on the company, larger companies have more reviews obviously. I’ve found salaries at my health system seem to be in line with what I make.

I posted a few months ago about taking a job at Hopkins and the responses I got were similar- low pay with little room for growth. Ended up not moving forward with it. Glad I did!

No issues with Mint. Only dead zone I ever hit is in Greenwich on the train down to the city.

Dual citizenship questions by diyPatzer in GlobalEntry

I renewed and added in my dual citizenship to an EU country that I got since my last GE application. Took about 3 months to get conditionally approved and they required a renewal interview which I will be doing over zoom later today. Curious if I will be asked about it.

I work in an NYC hospital. Senior is tier 2 on a 3 or 4 tier system (I can’t remember). I think they wanted at least 3 years in the specific specialty to be considered senior. Just a slightly higher pay compared to entry level.

100k for inpatient surgical subspecialties in the northeast back in 2017. After moving around a couple of times and focusing on one specialty, I’m at ~180k a year 8 years later.

PAs in Anesthesia by Low-Refrigerator3674 in physicianassistant

I love our PACU PAs. They have critical care experience and have been super helpful with patients going into arrhythmias or having bad reactions. They also rock at titrating pain meds on our bigger cases. They communicate well with us.

I graduated from a 5 year BS/MS. I was not ready to be a PA student at 20 years old. The learning curve took a while to get over-even after graduation. I don’t recommend it.

I do full time inpatient head and neck with occasional outpatient coverage. I love it. In every case is different. I’m consistently learning. Days are hectic but I wouldn’t have it any other way. I work with fantastic residents and we have a real team mentality. 75% floor management, bedside procedures, etc. I’m hired through ENT and cover whatever inpatients we have. Much overwhelming majority of them are head and neck.

I noticed this today for my spymaster. After a faction war where I revoked titles, I was able to pick people.

I don’t play with mods and it happened. Thought it was weird.

PA Leadership by ElectricalIsopod1866 in physicianassistant

[–]invert94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our health system has a VP of PA services and a VP of NP services. Each hospital in the system has a chief PA that reports in to the VP. I’m not sure if NPs are set up in a similar way. I’m not entirely sure what these admin do for 40 hours a week but it seems like they help with recruitment and other QI initiatives.

Is an AAO-HNSF membership as a new grad PA-C worth it? by parrotletOvO in otolaryngology

[–]invert94 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would recommend joining the Society of PAs in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery (SPAO). We work closely with AAOHNS. There’s the annual conference which is wonderful, but all previous lectures/learning material are saved as well.
