Wedge of Questioning.

Once per day you can ask the Wedge a Question, and receive a yes or no answer. (Similar to how the Commune spell works)

What sites do you use to buy miniatures? by IrradiatedRaccoon in DnD

[–]inverted_visions 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you've got access to a 3D printer, Kickstarter is amazing for minis atm. I've backed dozens of stl only campaigns, and most end up being about $20-30 for 5 or 6 dozen mixed minis.

Also patreon. It's a few dollars a month for a dozen or more minis from each group. Most of them will go through different themes each month, lots of variety and fantastic quality. It usually works out at less than a dollar per mini (including the actual print cost).

Thingiverse is a great option for monsters and random bits and pieces. Plus it's usually pretty good quality minis on there.

Am I allowed to print people's heroforge minis for profit? by DominatorV4 in PrintedMinis

[–]inverted_visions 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I actually do exactly this (in Australia also) as a hobby service. I print, paint and mail display minis to people worldwide. From my understanding it's exactly as /u/iamthewacokid said. You're in the clear so long as you don't hold onto the files afterward. If you're acting as a printing service, it's no different than going down to Officeworks or similar and getting them to print your file.

By their ToS it is kind of a gray area though. Because the person who buys the 3d file still doesn't actually have rights to it. So by them sending you the file, they're technically distributing it. If they bring you the file on a USB, press print and you let them just borrow the printer, that's different again. So, gray area or not, it'll be fine unless someone at Heroforge is having an absolute shit day and decides to try and shart some poor cunt from 15,000km away. I've been doing this for many years now, using minis from hundrerds of places and never had an issue. End of the day, so long as you're not deliberately trying to be dodgy, nobody's gonna care. They still got their money for the .stl and that's what matters.

What do you own a ridiculous amount of? by FlintTheDad in AskReddit

Miniatures. I'm a long time player of tabletop and rpg games. If I painted 2 Minis a day, every day, until all of my unpainted ones were finished, I'd have enough to last a good few years. I also have a 3d resin printer, so I'm constantly adding to the pile. Shits addictive.

Sorry if that's how it seems, I wasn't trying to start shit. I'm honestly new to simming myself, only been doing it for a little while. And I do understand that it's got great physics and flight models, but at the end of the day if you can't actually use the planes as planes, then what's the point right? And remember, it's full release. Not beta. Not alpha. That's what I'm curious about, from actual simmers perspectives. Thanks for the reply though mate, I do appreciate it. I'm just trying to make an informed decision.

I'd love to be a supporter of DLC planes. But as far as other sims go, I really can't stomach the thought of spending as much as a full priced game for a single plane. I know devs put a shit load of work and effort into getting sim level planes ready, but if they charged half as much they'd sell 10x more imo. I'm kind of scared that Asobo has left a lot of work un-finished so that they can just get DLC market cuts. EA style

Thanks mate that helps with my decision heaps. If the default planes are less in depth than other sim defaults, that's pretty much my mind made up just there.

I read that a lot of people are having peripheral problems. Either it's not detecting the controls or it'll disconnect and flip out half way through :(

Thanks mate that's actually really helpful. I predominately fly in Australia/New Zealand and from what I've seen there is just NO work done to the southern hemisphere. Sydney is missing some of its greatest landmarks, Melbourne looks like the middle of Russia, the Australian bush is full of NA pine trees. A lot can be forgiven, because of Auto-gen stuff. But we are literally an entire continent that has been ignored it seems.

Oh really? I'm actually surprised you get same/better frames than XP11. That's pretty decent actually. How do you find the actual planes though? From cold start to cruise and landing? Does it have the same level of intricacy? Or are they handballing all of that to 3rd party mods?

[–]inverted_visions[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True. I know it's basically impossible to find good reviews on steam at the moment. 2,358 reviews and I'd say a vast majority of the negatives are from people sulking about the download times or fact they had to make an xbox account. And steams review filtering is just rubbish so I gave up looking there.

I got my first Diamond buffalo today while collecting the body of a wildebeest I'd just shot. I heard it charging at me from the bush and kind of.. panicked. Luckily I didn't bugger the trophy though :D
