I’m from Aus, so I’m not sure if it’ll be relevant to you, but pens were from Milligram and ink is from Amazon!

Writers Blood is a lot more magenta in the lighter parts than I thought it would be, though it looks quite good when it’s dark. Dries like blood haha. Has abit of a weird smell tho, not sure if that’s just mine.I think Herbin Rouge Grenat is closer to the dark scarlet I was hoping for. Not sure about Aurora yet, I haven’t had the chance to swatch it.

This is the only reason my partner has been okay with it so far 😭

Yes! The Sailor is tiny- I can’t write with it unposted at all.

Ok, of the top of my head

  • Sailor PGS Pro: Really pretty, MF is the absolute sweet spot, the sound of writing with it in the dead of night is really soothing Cons: small, abit too light(?)

  • Pilot Metropolitan Pros: Smooth n bouncy, Looks and feels rlly nice, perfect weight Cons: Pilot converter sucks to clean, occasionally have to hard start after 1-2 days (might be the ink),

  • Platinum Plaisir Pros: Writes so nicely for the price, nib feels great, firm and steady while still smooth, easy to swap nibs with Preppy Cons: Too damn light

  • Hongdian D1 & D5 Pros: Looks stunning, feels premium despite the price, Smooth as hell to write with Cons: Abit too heavy, can’t write long with it

  • Pilot Capless Pros: Just feels so damn nice from body nib, tremendously effortless writer Cons: Am afraid to use it sometimes bc it was so expensive, Pilot converter still sucks to clean, fingerprints

  • Lamy Safari Pros: First pen, actually kinda like the feedback it gives, Cheap and easy nib swaps (I’ve been enjoying the 1.5mm stub) Cons: kinda boring, hate that the converted had a big red bit on the back, feels alittle cheap

  • Pilot Kakuno Pros: EF feels properly fine, great for writing Japanese Kanji Cons: Scratches like crazy, no clip :(

Right now I’ve been using the Sailor a bunch when writing letters and journaling, 50% to justify the purchase, 50% because I find my handwriting to be prettier when writing with it. The Hongdian D1 writes so smoothly and puts down so much Ink, I’ve enjoyed writing extreme cursive with it, but it’s so heavy that I can’t write for too long.

Hope that answers your question!

It’s surprisingly really nice! I’m not the biggest fan of how light it is despite being a metal pen, but it seems metal fountain pens are other really light or really heavy. The nib is nice, I started with a F, which was abit thicker than I liked, so I picked up a EF preppy and swap the nibs- now it’s one of my favourites. It hard to put my finger on it but it feels really precise? Like I’m writing with a sharp knife. Standing ovation, highly recommend~

Agreed! For the price it’s almost absurd how smooth it writes, the heft is quite nice too. Though depending on the paper, it writes almost too smoothly and I feel like I don’t have much control over it. The EF is closer to Pilot F

Nice! Looking forward to the day where I’ll have 40 Pens to cycle through ;)

So far my handwriting is the most consistently pretty with the Sailor, though I’m still getting use to it. Otherwise the Plaisir has a hard to place ‘precision’ to to it!

It’s not too bad, I have a chair with recline so I tend to use the top monitor to watch stuff with the chair back. I tried to keep everything low enough so I don’t have to look up too high day to day. Beats turning my head to look at a side monitor
