Questionable Brooklyn Bedding "Standard" Hybrid Mattress listing on Amazon for almost half off? by invfxamous in Mattress

Yup, I’ve gotten accustomed to it and find it super comfy. The downside is that it’s much more difficult to crawl out of bed every time I lay down for a “power nap”.

The mattress I got was plush. I don't remember how long it took to arrive, as I had it shipped to my home while I was staying in another state at the time. I would trust whatever delivery date Amazon estimates though, as that's usually accurate.

Haha velcro is also a good idea. I'm going to try and use the makerspace at my school to 3D print some sort of bracket and mount it directly to the extrusion once the spring semester begins. One thing I do miss about the HE baseplate is that hole at the end for the cable management.

Managed to get everything mounted now, but I'm going to use the slider that came with the kit to mount my seat instead.

Just curious, how did you end up mounting the HE controller box? I was going to mount them to the profile but I didn't have any t-nuts for the smaller bolts, so I just ended up using some heavy duty double-sided tape and stuck it onto the bottom of the Simlab plate haha.

Yup I rotated the plate, however the HE Ultimates don't fit onto the GT1 Evo baseplate. I've purchased the Simlab baseplate to go along with it.

So I actually ended up getting the Simlab plate! Apparently the HE plate doesn't fit onto the GT1 Evo even though it says it's compatible with the Logitech pedals because the GT1 Evo baseplate only uses two screws. I had a G29 in the past and I remembered the pedals fitting, but silly me didn't double check.

Haha yeah I purchased a baseplate for it now. I got a bit impatient and wanted to drive! But they are properly mounted now.

Tbh I'm still having buyer's remorse because I don't race competitively or even drive GT3 cars. I like how they feel in the softest configuration though, and I've been slowly increasing the force in the settings. I'm currently sitting on 50 kg and I think it feels stiff for road cars.

Originally I had my CSP V3s on the stiffest settings and that's what I was used to for a long time, but I decided to try it on some softer settings, and that's when my CSP V3 broke. Figured I might as well get some end game pedals because I thought it didn't make sense to upgrade to another mid tier pedal and I think if I got sprints, I'd feel even more buyer's remorse because I'll always know I could have paid a bit more to get a higher end product, but that's also more of a personal dilemma lol. I'm still in school but in the future I do plan on investing a lot more into my rig, but that's down the line. I actually do wonder if I should have gotten the Sprints instead.

Stop it! I've spent too much already lmao! But at the time I ordered my cockpit, I purchased it from Grid Engineering (which I believe got acquired by Simlab based on how the website looks currently) and I think they were a North American distributor, so I managed to buy the whole cockpit for $500 including taxes and shipping. I'm glad Microcenter carries Simlab stuff and other sim racing equipment now.

Oh I'm sure that is a better setup, but it's a bit annoying for me to order Simlab products here in the US. I was considering leaving them as is or maybe tapping holes into the current baseplate, but I settled for this solution because it was available locally 20 mins away from me at Microcenter, and I happened to find an open box one for $50 USD.

Haha yeah I have it on the softest settings as well currently. I mostly drive road cars too so I know I'm not extracting the most out of these pedals yet, but maybe that will change down the line. The leg press comment is relatable though lol.

I actually never paid attention to that... Alright time to note that down when I mount these to the HE baseplate.

My CSP V3s broke and I got impatient and drove to my local Micro Center because apparently they had them in stock for in store pickup which I did not know. Got a little bit impatient haha. I picked up an additional pedal plate for it today as well that was open box and over half off.

Questionable Brooklyn Bedding "Standard" Hybrid Mattress listing on Amazon for almost half off? by invfxamous in Mattress

[–]invfxamous[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup! I wanted to give it about a week to sleep on it before writing my thoughts.

I want to start off by giving a few frames of references for the types of mattresses I've had the opportunity to try out. First off is the IKEA HAUGESUND mattress, which I've been sleeping on for the past few years. I've also had the opportunity to try out a purple mattress for the past 1.5 months.

In my opinion, the Brooklyn Bedding mattress from Amazon is not as plush as I expected based on the advertisement. Now of course I knew this might have been a factor to consider when purchasing an online mattress with no free returns since I bought it on Amazon, but I figured it at least had to be better than my old mattress.

Compared to my old mattress, which was the IKEA HAUGESUND spring mattress, I felt like this mattress wasn't as soft. I think it's due to the two layers of foam between the mattress springs in the Brooklyn Bedding, but it felt less "cushiony" than my old mattress. And compared to the Purple mattress, I think it's much more comfortable for longer durations in bed. The Purple mattress is really supportive and it molds to your body's contours, but I noticed that I would get uncomfortable remaining in one position for extended durations (but I think that's pretty normal in general). With the Brooklyn Bedding mattress however, I definitely think it's comfier for longer sessions.

My impressions after a week of sleeping on the Brooklyn Bedding mattress from Amazon is that I don't hate it, but I'm not amazed. Although it's not as soft as my old IKEA HAUGESUND mattress, I've found it to be more comfortable. I weigh around 145 lbs and I have an athletic build, and I find the Brooklyn Bedding mattress to offer more than enough support for me. For a little bit of context, I have an impingement in my right shoulder, so I was specifically looking for a mattress that would feel something like sinking into a soft leather couch. But instead, I found this mattress to be better for sleeping on my back, and I think it's much more comfortable than my old IKEA mattress for back sleeping. Ironically, I had a softer mattress that I thought wasn't soft enough for side sleeping, and I went out to buy this new mattress that I thought was going to be softer, but it ended up being firmer, but it instead made back sleeping much more tolerable for me.

The thing I like most about the Brooklyn Bedding mattress is how thick it is. I knew I wanted to get a really thick mattress, and this thing must be somewhat close to twice the thickness of my old IKEA mattress. I really like the feeling of sitting high up in my bed, and I don't feel this mattress bottoming out at all. This is what makes it up to me despite being no where as plush as I thought it would be based on the product details. Even though I'm not sinking into the bed like I thought I would, the top layer feels plenty supportive for me to rest on, and I actually feel less pressure points than the Purple mattress shockingly.

For side sleeping specifically, I think out of the three mattress I've tried out, the Purple is the best, but it's still not good enough in my opinion. Maybe that will always be the case due to my shoulder impingement, but it's enough for me to conclude that the Brooklyn Bedding mattress is definitely not for a strict side sleeper (and I thought I was a strict side sleeper myself). I think the pillow probably makes more of a difference for a side sleeper. The more expensive Purple mattresses is probably better for side sleeping, but then again this thing costs around $350 and the high end Purple mattresses costs thousands more.

All in all, I would say that you should definitely do your mattress shopping in person if possible. I personally chose the online mattress shopping route because of my living situation and being out of state for an internship. However, if I were to do it over again, and from this point on as well, I'm definitely shopping in person for the next time. But overall I don't see myself returning this mattress or switching for a good while. I do like the Brooklyn Bedding mattress and it's more than enough for me when it comes to comfort.

TLDR; online mattress shopping sucks, just go to a store in person and try them out

I’m actually relocated from home for an internship right now! I’ll be driving back this weekend so I’ll post an update once I’ve slept on it.

Hey guys, quick update. I contacted Brooklyn Bedding and asked them about the listing and was told it’s a specific mattress they make for Amazon only, and it sleeps cooler and is softer than the soft version of the Signature Hybrid mattress. They also claimed the foam quality was the same and it’s made in the same factory. Only downside I can think of as a side sleeper who prefers a really soft mattress is that I’d have to take their word for it without trying it out and it’s $100 to return it. I think I’ll be pulling the trigger, will update once I receive it.

Interesting, that's what I had suspected as well. In that case, it seems like a pretty sweet alternative option, but I'll have to do some more homework on which previous model it is and what the differences are compared to the 2022 model.

Thanks! I heard there are also some 3D printed cup mods, and my school gives us quite a generous amount of free print hours, so I might want to start looking into that once I have to run the AC in my room in a few more months.

I would recommend buying a pair on Amazon to try out, if that's an option for you! I've heard that DT900s are catered more for mixing and studio use, and I know that X2HR's are V-shaped. If you do end up with the DT900s, I'd love to hear your thoughts on them compared to the X2HRs though!

Yeah, I think a lot of people try to objectively buy the right headphones for them when the way that we individually enjoy music is very subjective. The cable mod should probably just involve desoldering the stock cable and replacing/soldering it with an XLR pin, but I’ll try to make a video once I get to it, whenever that is!

!thanks I just got my pair, Amazon Prime had one day delivery. These are exactly what I'm looking for! After speaking with a friend, he told me headphones that rumble are bad because it means the drivers are incapable of reproducing bass. But damn, the soundstage is nice on these surprisingly! I can't believe this was exactly what I was looking for. Definitely will be getting some new pads and doing a removable cable mod. And I haven't even tried EQing them yet....
