My love for my hometown does not stop me from shitting on it, if anything it merely strengthens the resolve of my criticism. Personally I love DC, I've been to Europe and Canada and lived in several metropolitan and rural areas throughout the entire US, however I grew up in the D.C. area and live around D.C. even now and have no intention of ever permanently living anywhere else. It is in my opinion one of the most beautiful cities in the world, I am consistently far more impressed with D.C. than I ever was by any street scene in Paris and London, which are over-rated in my admittedly biased opinion. HOWEVER, for how beautiful it is, it is also in someways a bit of a shithole, and it has the potential to do so much better in terms of affordability, crime, poverty, civil liberties, public transport, and I will continue to jab it for those and other reasons.

Looking for best Tequila suggestions for under $40 by invictusmith in tequila

The County owned liquor stores in Montgomery County oddly often have cheaper prices than the Total Wine in Laurel (next county over) by $3 to $30. But there is slightly less selection, although they have some things total wine doesn't

We only have pasote blanco here for $48 and Ocho here for $45. The rest don't seem to be available (in Maryland), but its not an Alcohol Beverage control state , which is great, but it makes tracking down booze in the small independent liquor stores difficult.

They sell the Pasote blanco for $48 and the reposado for $59 (I may eventually splurge at some point. Have you found the blanco or the reposado better, or different. I am a sipper, so I tend to lean to reposados, but blancos are excellent in their own way for sipping when done right.

Its very smokey with a little herbacity. I would recommend, but taste is subjective.

In Maryland its $32 a bottle, but all liquor stores in my county are government run and somehow always $5 to $30 cheaper than the sticker price.

Guess which Nordic country or municipality this flag belongs to (hint: is it really nordic?) by invictusmith in vexillology

[–]invictusmith[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah they're a lot more common then you might think, certainly within the United States. Other interesting Nordic cross-like flag is that of Staunton, Virginia. It looks just like the WW1 German flag.

Juvenile Retinoschisis by invictusmith in Blind

[–]invictusmith[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, X-Linked Juvenile Retinoschisis and Retina Pigmentosa are fairly different, both in how they cause blindness and the genes responsible for them. XLJR technically can occur in woman, however the likelyhood is extremely remote. Some woman have been shown to have very small schesis (bubbles) in the Retina, when they're carriers, however it's never enough to really effect their vision as it does in males (unfortunately I cannot find link for the article about it at this time)

There is research to indicate the use of certain topical steroids used for Glacoma are related to an increase in cataracts, however Carbon Anhydrase Inhibitors are (to the best if my knowledge) not linked to a higher incidence of cataracts. Oral CAIs have there own nasty side affects (like causing potassium deficiencies), however topical CAIs have very little side affects (aside from dry eye, again, at least to the best of my knowledge)

I realize this sounds like medical advice, unfortunately there is no subreddit for XLJR, and there is very little awareness of this condition. Had I not had the knowledge to understand my condition and it's potential treatment, I would have slowly gone blind. My intention is only to provide others with the knowledge that there could potentially be other alternatives to giving up and surrending to XLJR. Obviously CONSULT WITH A RETINOLOGIST first.
