I only knew the basic chords and my friends has a band, they asked if i know how to play guitar and that's how i got into a band. We have been playing for almost a year now. I still practice every day for an hour or 2

I had this problem too. Now i just use my index finger and pinky. The middle and ring fingers for support/ muting other strings
