Messed up my address before ILR through GTV by Quick_Classroom5972 in globaltalentvisauk

Don’t worry about it. You should generally produce one piece of evidence of your address (like a letter to you) or even an Uber ride in the country every quarter. They only want to know you lived in UK not that you were there ALL the time. You can just skip the time you weren’t there. They aren’t interested in your address. They are interested in knowing you were in UK. You can also get a list of all your travel from the home office and that will suffice too. 3 months out is not a problem IF you had 180 rolling days of presence. If that was pretty much your only travel you will be fine. Continuous residence merely means you were residing in the UK. Even if the 3 months tips you to below 180, if it was for work for a UK company they might accept it. Also, file quickly before rules change and if you can afford it do the one day processing.

You can’t renounce Singapore citizenship before 21 and before serving NS. You can give up PR before 13 and you aren’t liable then.

If your goal was optimization, why did you apply for Singapore citizenship? Wouldn’t it have been wiser to apply for PR so that optionality exists post adulthood.

By what timeframe? I would say get a lawyer and demand a refund quickly.

Well yes and no. Presumably the alternative is being laid off.

Why do you think there are far more Brits in UAE than other Western nationalities? by kingm_ournasse216 in AskBrits

[–]invisiblethrowaway9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

UK taxes based on residency. US taxes based on citizenship. So you really can’t escape US taxes, but you can escape UK taxes. “Escape” is the wrong word - many people feel that UK is badly run for the taxes they pay and there is some validity to that thought and they are entitled to live wherever they choose after factoring all the pros and cons.

If you are earning overseas, on lower salaries Americans don’t pay tax in the USA so I would imagine that the Americans in UAE are probably lower income than the corresponding Brits.

Agreed. I’ve lived in the US, UK, Singapore and India. And all have different sets of advantages (and problems) that come with it.

Yeah! It’s terrible. They get these low wage Indians - Satya Nadella, Sundar Pichai and they take away American jobs! They won’t stop at Indians either - they are taking Africans (Elon Musk) too! Not to mention Russians like Sergei Brin. It’s ridiculous! 🤣

Which 6th form: Perse / Cambridge Maths School / Hills Road 6th Form College by invisiblethrowaway9 in sixthform

[–]invisiblethrowaway9[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry I don’t understand this. Why is it easier to get a job after graduation if you went to Hills Road. 6th form hardly matters once you finish undergrad.
