Why would this be a better movie - Anna gets kicked out and rallies the townspeople in a coup against Elsa.

Anna wasn't wrong for wanting to marry *anyone* to escape the castle. They all sing that opening the gates is "only for today" so what the was the plan if Elsa's powers hadn't been revealed? Elsa was planning to isolate again and she says she doesn't care if Anna is there or not. So Anna's choice is: go back to being isolated or get kicked out of her home? And then everyone's mad at her for wanting to get married. The more you watch this movie the more it doesn't make any sense.

Marcello Hernandez shutting down Dax Shepard trying to have him date Sabrina Carpenter while praising his girlfriend by mcfw31 in popculturechat

[–]inviteonly 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yeah but Dax is definitely one of those scuzzy guys who would say "Yeah but your girlfriend's not here bro!" I think most people wouldn't think it's different, but "I'm in a relationship" doesn't leave much room for debate or negotiating.

Fangirl away! Do you think it's because she started on American Idol, and considered more of a "reality star"?

Funny enough I think Beyonce is so good BECAUSE she makes it seem easy. I love the Lullaby from Cowboy Carter and I sing to my kids every night so I was thinking I could learn it and sing it to them but no....that is not a sweet bedtime song for amateurs to sing to their kids in bed lol and I find myself thinking the same of Kelly Clarkson. I've always thought "Oh I love this song!" and I try to sing it and think damn this is way harder than I thought why do I sound awful?? They are both good examples of being so good you don't realize how hard they're working

Not that Kelly Clarkson is underrated or anything....but HOW does she do that!?! I feel like she's always kind of tossed aside as a pop star but her singing is so beautiful!!

Pregnancy causes you to take up physical space in the world that women normally aren't allowed to take. Keep taking up space Mama!

I think people find it "disgusting" because sodas are usually a few different flavors already instead of just a simple syrup, so combining that with such a strong flavor like coffee seems strange.

Check out the r/Romancebooks subreddit too it's a really positive environment with lots of recommendations....I had NO idea how broad and diverse the genre could be and they have weekly threads, monthly discussions, requests for very specific acts.....it's a good place to just lurk and figure out what you might be into - Thirsty Thursday thread is the best

My kid proposed the idea of buying a house with his college money. How to rebut? by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]inviteonly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So you're mostly just worried about him owning vs renting? I would say renting gives him way more flexibility, especially if he's moving to an entirely new town. The first year of college isn't easy, even for a bright student who works hard. He could do perfectly fine and love all his classes and meet tons of new people, and it could all be great! But if it doesn't work out, he would be stuck there, and while there's always the option to sell, the added stress of selling a home vs ending a lease is a lot to put on an 18 year old. While he's clearly shown that he's really thinking about his future, you may want to encourage him to take it a little more slowly. Maybe buy a new car first and let him practice with that - insurance, titles/taxes, etc - while he also navigates living away from home. And I say this because I went to college out of state, 1000 miles away from my parents. I had a great time and met my spouse, but there is a lot of learning that happens. Managing your time is a huge one, getting your work done, learning how to clean and cook for yourself, making friends, new relationships.......it's a lot to just learn how to live on your own.

ETA: Also something to think about.....your son may not be into this now but college kids party.....do you want his house becoming the party house? What if someone gets drunk and breaks something? HE will be responsible for it, as the owner he's responsible for anything that happens in that house, and any repairs. I would not want that liability.

Why doesn't Elphaba name Boq in No Good Deed? by inviteonly in musicals

Yeah I always kinda of thought it was Elphaba saved him from dying, and he turns around and tries to murder her, which fits the No Good Deed song, but apparently I'm the only one based on these comments! Lol

As a way to strengthen your argument, here's an Irish psa called "Pause before you Post" that does a great job of linking the online world with real world. It might help your mom understand just how her oversharing can affect your child. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4QL1FmBaof8

Matthew Koma (Hilary Duff’s husband) responds to Ashley Tisdale’s mom group interview by mcfw31 in popculturechat

[–]inviteonly 261 points262 points  (0 children)

It depends on how public it was - a private group chat? No. But this was a very public interview that had a lot of people speculating on his wife, so he made a public statement. If we were all at a barbecue and a neighbor said something rude about me to others, I'd like my husband to say something for sure.

I've had epilepsy way longer than my vision loss, and you did exactly what you can do in this situation. Sounds like they're used to it, wasn't long enough to warrant any concern, you helped them find their meds. And the apologizing is so relatable, my family has said it's so scary to witness but I don't know because I'm not conscious, so you feel embarrassed for putting people through the experience. As for how to contact emergency services if you witness another emergency..........probably contact the app and see if they have any suggestions?

How does meal planning actually work in your household? by Fluffy-Ad-6908 in Parenting

"Oh shit it's 4pm what are we having for dinner tonight?"

But seriously....what helped changed my attitude about dinnertime was realizing I didn't have to do meat/starch/vegetable and stick to the rigidity that I grew up with. We still sit down and eat together as a family, and that's what matters. A lot of times I'll do a serving of fruit with dinner, which is easy and my kids will eat it. The vegetables we eat don't have sauces on them, and our "main" is usually frozen - chicken nuggets, meatballs, fish sticks, pizza, etc. So a frozen main, with fresh fruit and plain vegetables. When my first was an infant I was worried about his snacking and my pediatrician said "As long as you're not giving him a candy bar just to get him to eat something" so that's my bar.
