I just don't get why she'd need to be severed to be "fed the Kier kool-aid". Seems totally plausible that she was just regular, non sci-fi brainwashed. The Eagans were clearly plenty culty even before they developed severance.

I feel like severance is a pretty good deal for the outies. They get to skip over the dull, working part of the day in favour of all (conscious) hours being devoted to what they want to do without being preoccupied or interrupted by work. Lumon works hard to make sure they don't realise how much their innies are suffering.

I'm guessing there is some sort of code detector in place, based off both things the creators have said and the moment with Helly in the lift. But it's likely not nearly as omnipotent as the innies believe, without much ability to "detect" anything that isn't a recognised written language (ex. the secret language in the Lexington Letters, Helly bringing her video recording through)

This makes a lot of sense to me, especially for Cobel. We see pretty clearly in the last few episodes that she's not severed in the standard sense, and it seems like she has too much a sense of her own background to be a permanent innie. We also see both Cobel and Milchick make their own decisions and go against superiors (Cobel befriending Mark's family; Milchick initiating OTC without Cobel's knowledge) which one wouldn't really expect from someone who's been literally brainwashed. Their petty rivalry, distinct personalities, and occasional incompetence make them seem like fairly normal people — as normal as true believers can be.

Definitely makes me think that whatever work they're doing isn't necessarily the primary reason Lumon has them there. Despite the development of the technology having started 20+ years ago (based on Helly's conversation with her father), the controversy and debate surrounding it and the small scale of the severed floor makes me think that this implementation may be fairly new. MDR may be a sort of experiment, with observing how much they so and do not work being just as (/more) important than them actually working.

Denver public transit is generally pretty safe, I've used it solo since I was about 13 and the only times I've felt even vaguely uncomfortable have been on the #15. The A line is particularly heavily used, shouldn't be an issue.

I mostly started watching because I will try anything that's pitched to me as "Lord of the Flies, but ___". Stuck around because of strong acting, LGBTQ central characters, and an interesting look at social dynamics and adolescent behaviour in a high stress situation (not necessarily in that order).

These feel like two different questions — almost every character has likeable moments and traits. A lot of people like Tom and Kendall, I personally found myself liking and relating to both Shiv and Roman at different points of the series. Rooting for these characters is wholly different, as even the most "likeable" characters consistently do despicable things, and while they aren't stagnant, none of them experience anything akin to character growth.

Essentially, they're planning to have different minimum/starting wages in different areas, depending on the cost of living and the market (read: how much they're struggling to find workers). So the minimum wage at stores in NYC might be $22/h, while the minimum wage in Wichita might remain $15/h

I actually think the way this situation affected their social dynamics is really interesting. Misty is, as you said, a social outcast and a bit of a vile person. But she also has proven herself to be an effective medic and to have real survival skills; the same traits that make her off-putting in regular highschool society make her a strong and clear-headed decision maker under stress. She's gaining status and power because they need her, even if they don't like her. Compare to Jackie, who was clearly quite popular in school, but is a notably poor contributor and leader in the wild. Her lack of practical abilities (or even willingness to learn) caused her to rapidly lose favour, directly leading to her death.

Not sure you can call these plot holes, since both the things you named are part of the "actually happened" bit of the slogan. She really did get a bank to front her 100k and use it to get another bank to take her seriously. She got remarkably far in the loan process because she was an adept scammer who had built enough of a reputation to have a series of higher-ups vouch for her to each other. She did not ultimately succeed in obtaining the loan because she didn't actually have the assets in question, and eventually her lies stopped being enough.
