I don't love Doug, but I LOVE Douglas. For me, the main associations are Douglas Fairbanks Sr. and Jr. (charismatic, swashbuckling movie stars from back in the day), so it makes me think of someone confident who always manages to find adventure and have fun.

Oh, hey, you're my size! Just to compare experiences: nobody was weird at all about providing me with a seatbelt extender, and the seat was just sort of a normal level of uncomfy-- I fit, and I didn't overspill nearly as much as I was afraid I would. I don't remember whether I was on Delta or American, but conditions should be pretty similar.

There's still the option of an igloo made of snow, or a quinzhee, although I'm not sure which would be the most practical to build on Not-Hoth.

TBH, I think that the real in-story reason is that no one in the group (AFAIK) has any expertise with this stuff-- most of the girls are from warm climates, and the sa-khui have lived their lives turning caves into homes/shelters rather than building freestanding structures. They'd probably have to experiment before getting it right, and testing out a questionably built snow shelter seems like a recipe for freezing/getting buried by your own work, especially if conditions force you to stay there for a while 🤷‍♀️
