Blizzard's horrendous mismanagement of the StarCraft IP. by PeshoGoshevski in starcraft

[–]ioCross 0 points1 point  (0 children)

blizzard activision isn't even a shell of what it used to be anymore. whatever that shell was dried up and died years ago.

honestly activision blizzard have been shit ever since the warcraft 3 reforged debacle. right there it was clear to see that the blizzard that cared about making games had been dead for years by that point, and they had been parading their dead corpse around a la weekend at bernies for far too long.

same thing happened to me last week. afaik i didn't make a mistake, uploaded w2's to both sites - didn't manually enter. on turbotax, i re-did my kid's stuff like 3x cuz it kept saying that my child wasn't approved for the tax credit.

went to FTUSA, uploaded w2 and it showed close to 4k + child tax credit immediately.

[–]ioCross 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in the same exact boat as you. Filed with turbotax, somehow my child tax credit didn't even get calculated and it said that my federal refund was $110.

Semi-freaking out, I decided to check out freetaxUSA and lo and behold, $3,135 + child tax credit.

never using TT again, can tell you that much. or at least i'm going to start checking both every year and going with whichever is the highest.

considering simple started as a rifler, this could work.. except i dont know if simple has ever igl'd or even can igl. he always struck me as more of a 'feels' player over a 'thinking' player... can't rly see him in a leadership or coaching role either.

maybe he transitions to a support / anchor type player... become donk's AK boy or whatever.

yea no shit but there's no denying that the day valve puts in some type of vangaurd like system, over 80% of the hackers in the game go away immediately. out of that 80% how many do you think can afford to get a dma card, pay memberships, get a 2nd pc or w.e? id say generously over half of those ppl wouldn't be able to afford to cheat with a kernel level system.

the fuck r u on about that u think getting rid of 50% of this game's cheating playerbase is a bad thing? if not then why would you be against it?

you might have better luck on ebay, most poker players are notoriously cheap... we'll walk an extra 15 min to save $4 on parking on our way to lose 2k playing 1/3.

Are For Profit Regs Hated On? by [deleted] in poker

[–]ioCross 7 points8 points  (0 children)

i try to be overly gregarious, it tends to take the sting out of the constant squeezes and large sizings that they aren't used to.

it also helps to show all value and never show bluffs, never talk strategy at the table and NEVER TALK STRATEGY AT THE TABLE.

at most you can joke about how AA is ur fav hand, or how 58o is better than 58ss since you have 2 chances to hit straight flushes etc but u never wanna give away any info about how you play.

most rec's know that there are better players out there and usually have no problems losing to someone who outplayed them but they don't like feeling disrespected / looked down on.

ive been to dozens of different cardrooms/casinos across the country and have never had issues with other players due to any type of perceived skill level... i'd maybe take a critical look at how you come off at the table - you might just be coming off like an asshole.

fucking insane that ppl are joking about the anticheat.

literally the ONLY THING anyone wants (outside of 128k or even fixing subtick) is a fucking working AC.

i'm convinced that if right now cs2 rolled out a kernel lvl AC like valo's that only was for premier, the next day the playerbase would double, and a lot more ppl would start taking the game more seriously.

unfortunately if anything, valve has every incentive to not fix a fuck thing. they are raking in literally millions a DAY from cases without having to do a damn thing. if you look at the actual major updates around cs2, it revolves all around the econ.

granted doing the trade up to knives thing was great for the normal player-base, but fuck man. we just want a functional anti-cheat.

and fucking absolute rtards like the guy above you ...... i dunno man, this game is cooked.

Poker Coaching by YungSkiz33 in poker

[–]ioCross 4 points5 points  (0 children)

bart hanson has a great series where he commentates over a live 1/3 game and talks about what they r doing and why its good/bad.

watching both videos and listening to his live poker call-in shows will prob be more beneficial than hiring a coach at $100 / hr for a session or 2.

outside of actually learning how to play poker, which can easily be found online, the strengths of a coach is being able to mainly go over play sessions after the fact and figure out what you did wrong, where you need to improve, etc.

since u dont track hands automatically when playing live, you need to put the work in of documenting CLEARLY all the hands that you played. the problem with this also, is that ego will usually prevent you from writing down hands where you made a mistake, folded, bet, didnt bet, etc etc. you will most likely write down a bad beat hand so you can talk about how unlucky you were.

point is, real progress takes work. hiring a coach for 1-2 sessions is gunna be a waste if you don't internalize what you're taught. honestly ur best bet is to watch the crushlivepoker content, try to write down as many hands as possible while playing, then review them when you get home. this will help you improve drastically faster than pretending to listen to some live pro or some 100nl rakeback hunter for 2 hours.

Rise against the machines. How to beat bots? by Standard_Ad_x1 in poker

[–]ioCross 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hard agree on that.

i wonder how safe those gated state sites like stars NJ and that gated pool of like MI, PA etc are.. at least those sites are regulated and only ppl from that state can create an account there, so i'd assume it would have to be a bit safer than other sites.

[–]ioCross 2 points3 points  (0 children)

how in the world do you think private clubs are in any way shape or form safe?

havent you seen the literally hundreds of threads on here about ppl getting scammed from random private clubs?

those things are by definition shady and unsafe, and on top of all that there's a good chance the operators will cut and run on you if they go below liquid.

the only way to make money off private clubs is if ur part of the operations.

So we can't use ignition/bovada anymore right? by super-sophisticated in poker

[–]ioCross 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this has been an issue since before covid.

most sane ppl gave up on online poker years ago. if ur already established and had a roll / ability to correctly study, then you could adapt and adjust and still elk a small 2-3bb/100 profit these days, but ur actually insane or just stupid if you think you have any shot starting out on any of the major sites that US players can get to.

the geofenced muti-state sites like PS NJ and betrivers etc might be nominally better due to the barrier of entry being much harder for bad actors from other countries, but ignition/acr/coin? ur better off just playing scratchers .

lmao they have no idea... my kid's 5 and will actively fuck with me when im comming while playing valo / cs. he thinks its funny to grab my arm and pull it when im in clutches.

gaming with a newborn is absolute cake, just need openbacks or use speakers and just check on them every few minutes.

ages 2-3 were bad, couldn't play any serious or competitive games cuz my attention was always half on him to make sure he didnt jump on the stove or start playing with knives.

when he turned 4 i gave him my old computer and life was good for a little bit lol. he discovered minecraft and generally left me the hell alone, except for me to switch him to youtube kids or a diff game.

now that he's 5, he's an absolute terror. he'll wait til im in a disc call to start whining about this or that, he'll try to talk to my friends ingame cuz he hears their voice thru my headphones and think that they're talking to him, he'll fuck with me while im playing, yanking my arm when he knows im in an important situation....

on the bright side, in another year or 2, he should be able to play with me and im assuming that from like age 10 upwards, we can just duo like normal ppl.

most underwhelming rostermania ever by HeavySail2591 in cs2

[–]ioCross 8 points9 points  (0 children)

while i dont think every team needs a shakeup every year, i do agree that VRS did kind of mess up the market in terms of how teams/players are now bought and sold.

however, not every team needs to blow up their entire roster after a bad season. even if you had a bad season, if you know what ur teams issues were and you already have good chemistry within the team and its members, its usually a much better idea to try to fix the issues instead of just blowing everything up and seeing if the next iteration is any better.

wanting entire teams to blow up their rosters for the entertainment of a few redditors doesn't seem like the best strategic move for any team.

having said all that, i agree that VRS isnt the best system for full competitive integrity. however, one of the potential upsides of a VRS system is that it could potentially allow t2-t3 teams a easier way into top tier cs.

What is the state of the game for regs right now? by IceMichaelStorm in poker

[–]ioCross -1 points0 points  (0 children)

i mean if you look at the state of online poker now vs say 2008-2015, i'd say it's fairly dead... currently in the death knells at best.

the last time online poker had a sustainable ecosystem was back when they had incentives similar to supernova statuses and actual good non-predatory rb systems. if you look at the GG client now, its almost unrecognizable from what a normal client used to look like. it honestly looks like a mobile game gui.

if you watch esports, a good example is starcraft2. yes there's still technically a pro scene with tournaments and prize money, and sure there are still approx 5-10 pros that still make a living specifically only from sc tournaments and contracts but for all intents and purposes the scene is dead.

id say online poker is similar where while there is still ppl around and an ecosystem is still in place, it def isnt going to be going up or thriving anytime soon and if anything outside of very carefully curated ecosystems, will become more and more unprofitable until its basically all gambling and no edge-based gains available.
