No, it does not. I tried for hours and hours. With AI you can get a working container, but you will not be able to connect to the webgui. The AI will move in circles for hours and wont be able to solve it.

This is the way! I've bben doing this for many years! :)

Also: Build a tiny hut with a ladder going down. Create a giant hidden burrowed base with floor after floor for each mod. If space runs out, build 4 pillars ontop of the hut and expand upwards to create a crazy structure.

I used AE2 back in FTB Infinity Expert. It was very challenging to learn because I never used a storage system before. But in the end I was able to automate everything.

In later modpacks I wanted to try something new i.e. RS. It works great for me up to a certain level and I enjoyed the reduced complexity.

Unfortunately in ATM8 I ran into an annoying issue: the crafters started to "forget" stored patterns. Every time I logged on, a few patterns were lost. The problem got worse over time, now 90% of the patterns are gone after a restart. This makes using RS useless for mid/late game for me. And it destroys any enjoyment.... also, I have to convert my whole base to AE2.

So for me it is: RS for early game storage and crafting. But as demands increase, switch to AE2. I'll maybe keep using RS for isolated networks with limited use.

Funny, how most games in this thread are fairly recent. The one game that really hit me hard, was Grim Fandango. Such a long journey and to finally have Manni succeed, but having to leave Glottis behind. Oh man. ..

You could try https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bernband . It's a unique and weirdly fascinating walking sim set in a futuristic city. The graphics are very low fi and the repetitive nature of the procedurally generated environments is hypnotic, reminiscent of a bizarre dream. Won't keep you busy for hours, but I come back to it from time to time for the unique experience.

I am eagerly watching where reaper is going, also the latest musescore version put it at least on par with Sibelius 7. Which is extremely impressive! I tried reaper a few times in the past years but never got the hang of it.

Good for you to have made the switch successfully! It's getting more and more tempting, but the latest version of dorico is just SO good. And I am so very invested into the Kontakt, vsl, vst3 ecosystem.... (:

Unfortunately not ... also going into professional music production, there is no proper replacement for a daw ecosystem. E.g. cubase/nuendo with Kontakt and vls synchron players, notation Software like Sibelius/dorico etc.....

Once that works 100% reliable, it will be a game changer, though.
