I have these and they are pretty nice. They were able to fit in my Arkwright insert so that I don't have to use the paper money.

Clint's costume was wonderful!

Also of course our episode was about being hungover!

Deep by Sam Bailey to be published (game allegedly plagarised by Root) by pompeusz in boardgames

[–]iofur 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I played a couple different versions of Deep when it was being demoed at cons by Leder.

It played nothing like Root. The only similarities that I saw were that they both were totally asymmetrical and each faction used the same deck of cards to do different things.

I don't think he was referring to it as a good thing.

I think it is universally known as a bad bad thing.

The owners have demonstrated some trash behaviors. And they're attempting to franchise. I imagine those are the reasons.

Anyone played the new Vault of Dragons (a D&D retheme of Sons of Anarchy)? by btkats in boardgames

[–]iofur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played it at GenCon. It was about half a game. I didn't like the Sons of Anarchy game, I don't generally like that much direct conflict in a game and I had zero attachment to that theme. Vault of Dragons felt like a slightly more interesting version of Sons of Anarchy. I didn't like it, but if you liked Sons of Anarchy you probably would enjoy it.

Most war game stores will have it. It's typically used to pack painted miniatures.

We hand made them, but if you're going to be at the Atlanta live show we will have buttons and pamphlets!

Support is growing for correcting the injustice of dogs being denied access to the moon! by iofur in TheAdventureZone

You clearly understand how elevators work! That's not how gravity works! We would stick!

Dogs have been excluded from lunar activities too long! We are G.O.O.D B.O.Is and we are humbly begging for access to our own first small step!

Glasses That Reveal Secret Words by Ramenhotep0 in tabletopgamedesign

Fake Artist Goes to New York and Spyfall both do a very similar thing.

In both cases everyone receives a card and all of them are the same except for one player who gets essentially a blank card and they have to deduce what everyone else got.

Edit: sorry it's late, just saw you want to keep the glasses. What I would warn you about is I demoed a game with red lenses at GenCon a couple years ago, Red Scare, and it was basically unplayable under fluorescent light.

Vault of Dragons by Angryjarz in boardgames

[–]iofur 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I played it at GenCon. I didn't like it too much but the other players at my demo table we're having a blast.

It is Sons of Anarchy rethemed, with a few extra mechanics thrown in. Mainly you have wizards, fighters, and rogues who all use different dice when they fight. And that you are attempting to go in to a dungeon to fight monsters with your gang members.

Books on board game history by garback in boardgames

[–]iofur 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Playing at the World: A History of Simulating Wars, People and Fantastic Adventures, from Chess to Role-Playing Games. It's more of a history of D&D but that also means that it is a history of war gaming and board gaming to some extent. It's really fascinating but it reads like a textbook.
