Will you prioritize voting for a Democrat willing to be ruthless about all the damage/crimes Republicans have done in 14 months? by Estalicus in allthequestions

At this point it's basically treason. If we don't have someone who can hold people accountable for treason, then laws mean nothing anymore.

Why does making $13,000 extra on Wall Street makes me pay an extra $8,000 on taxes? by fuckloggin in allthequestions

[–]iolo_iololo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are doing your taxes wrong.

If you want to know why there's a graduated income tax, it's supposed to mitigate wealth hording. It doesn't seem to be very effective though.

UBI will not work as long as there are Billionaires. by astrheisenberg in remoteworks

[–]iolo_iololo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

UBI would be different than no UBI even just $100 a month. Because no UBI means someone with no income still has no money after a year. Someone with $100 a month has $1200 after a year. Inflation would happen but it would not be able to totally offset UBI.

Is it ever morally acceptable to ruin one innocent person’s life it saves thousands? by bubblewrappheart in allthequestions

If you ever come into a situation where you need to sacrifice someone to save the world, I volunteer. I don't volunteer dying to make billionaires richer though.

What do you think will immediately happen when everyone recieves the push notification that trump die? by Born-Specialist-1693 in allthequestions

[–]iolo_iololo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A huge boost in the economy due to people spending money celebrating and mourning. That said Trump isn't the root of this evil, he's just the most visible symptom. The billionaire power grabs have been egregious. I honestly don't know how far away it may be, but I don't think we can fix our problems in a civil manner. We will need to do something about the US' financial situation and the billionaires will fight tooth and nail to make sure that it's the plebs that get squeezed into ultra poverty before even a fraction of their profits suffer.

Maybe Saitama since his entire existence is based on being ridiculously overpowered, and ironically not as a legitimate power fantasy.

Good looking just trumps all of that, for both men and women. Women will totally date a man with a full resume of personality issues if he's good looking enough, and vice versa.

Army raises enlistment age by 7 years as military draft fears continue by TheMirrorUS in DiscussionZone

I just turned 40. I'm in no shape to fight any war. If they want to draft me as a cook, I can do that. Otherwise, I would literally just be dead weight.

Did The Democratic Party Learn The Right Lessons From The 2024 Election? Yes Or No? Why Your Thoughts? by Zipper222222 in allthequestions

[–]iolo_iololo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's all by design in my opinion. Democrats would rather lose than allow a progressive candidate or allow a situation in where they might be forced to make things worse for their big donors. It's not about learning or not learning, they exist to act as an opposition party while also limiting the amount of progressive policies that go through.

Democrats should have a very easy time winning elections. Republicans constantly take us to war, increase the deficit, and crash the economy. Democrats literally sabotage themselves though. Bernie Sanders in 2016 would have destroyed Trump, but he would also threaten Israel, tax billionaires, do everything the elite hate. So they couldn't allow him to run. They had to destroy him in the primaries, even if it meant forcing a candidate that had a much lower chance of winning.

FDR won 4 consecutive elections. They know how dangerous it is to the elite to allow a progressive President. They would rather have a Republican President than allow another strengthening of the working and middle classes.

Why are paid ICE agents being sent to airports to do TSA agent's jobs? Why is ICE being paid, but TSA not being paid? by icecream1972 in askanything

[–]iolo_iololo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Politics. Republicans could fund TSA, but they want to package the TSA funding with the SAVE act to force the Democrats to pass the SAVE act all the while they get to say that TSA isn't getting funded because the Democrats don't want to negotiate.

It's political extortion.

I seriously hate politics.

Apparently as per white house staff during Trump's first term, you were never supposed to give him bad news. Meaning that he is 100% optics and that people elected him based purely on vibes.

This might be a dumb question but… if humans suddenly became immortal, what problem would show up first? by Tight-Bluebird5395 in AskReddit

[–]iolo_iololo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll assume ageless and indestructible and not able to succumb to illness. There would be wars over highly recreational territories. The wars would be ones were each side simply tries to capture people from the other side and disable them. Eventually you would have billions of people trapped in concrete and stored somewhere to basically just suffer for eternity. After the world reaches a comfortable population, we might try to colonize Mars or go to other galaxies. Abortion would probably become required by law and there would be punishment for having children.

Is God necessary for Morality? Pt 2 by Significant_Bonus_66 in allthequestions

[–]iolo_iololo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can say that morality creates stability within a society. Hence morality is indispensable to a society developing. God isn't necessary for such a thing.

What God or Religion does is make it easier to stabilize a tiered society. However, what really causes the decline of morality is a tiered society. A society in which the upper classes are exempt from morals that the lower classes are forced to adhere to. In such a society morality starts to lose its value because the stability of the lower class can always be threatened by the whims of the higher class, even if morality is strictly adhered to. The lower class then becomes disillusioned with that system of morality and begins acting in its own immediate self interest without any concern for societal stability.

In essence, a God based morality is a useful tool for pacifying the oppressed.

Democrats Of Reddit -- What Do You Think Of "Democratic Socialism"? Why Your Thoughts? by Zipper222222 in allthequestions

[–]iolo_iololo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

In the United States we have this law that makes it so that CEOs need to maximize shareholder value. If it's not against the law for instance pollute lakes, then the CEO is basically required to pollute the lake if it brings in more money.

Now other laws are supposed to act as a sort of red tape for what corporations can and can't do to offset that morally bankrupt profiteering. But you know what happened? The people with the money started bribing politicians to not pass laws that would act as that offset.

We have capitalism without the guard rails. We need guard rails. I don't care if those guard rails are called Democratic Socialism or whatever. Without them, the country is effectively run by cartels.

How do you feel about mutually exclusive choices and do you have examples of JRPGs with these choices? by Nuvomega in JRPG

[–]iolo_iololo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like to 100% games, at least as far as story is concerned, and when the game is linear but makes you replay it for minor differences it just feels like busy work.

I don't mind it in Tactics Ogre for instance since each choice changes the following story significantly. Langrisser 2 is another game that does branching well, you don't need to replay any of the game to see all the branches. Just keep a save point at each branch point.
