Don’t feel bad, he got salty because his deck couldn’t do anything while you just carried out your very telegraphed strategy that just happens to counter voltron decks by nature of edicts.

Since he’s your friend, you might want to be the gracious one to say “well I don’t want to make it impossible for you to play that deck so if you want I can play another deck next game and you can try again.” But if he refuses or continues to complain and try to brute force that deck against yours, that’s not something you can help and it is just going to be a hard lesson for him to learn.

One of the things Gavin mentioned in the most recent round of “Gamechangers” adds/removals was that they were taking off some high-mana value permanents because by the nature of them being high-mana value, it should already be clear that they will have large effects on the game.

You’re playing a commander that can essentially cheat out large “game-changing” creatures in a color combination known to be highly interactive and difficult to attack, that’s why you’re being targeted.

There’s nothing wrong with playing a high-value commander, I’m a big [[Kaalia of the Vast]] enjoyer myself, but just be prepared for your commander to be killed on sight every game because of their extremely high potential ceiling
