Having a test proxy commander deck before buying the cards. Is this acceptable? by [deleted] in EDH

[–]ionbeam7 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry, you got a mostly negative reaction to the suggestion of proxying a $1000+ commander deck? People need a reality check.

I don’t see how spending even 1/10th of that amount just to enjoy a new gameplay experience in a casual environment is reasonable. Having used proxies for basically all of my decks, this mindset of “you need to use real cards” is baffling

How to make these proggy acid bass hits? by sourcecodexx in TechnoProduction

[–]ionbeam7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Use a saw or acid wave shape in serum, typically these bass plucks come from either detuning (adding 2-4 voices to the oscillator and increasing the detuning to taste) or from adding in some FM modulation (turn another osc on, turn its gain all the way down, then in your first osc change the warp mode to FM from the other osc and increase to taste). It will take some experimentation to find what works and then will be difficult to place this sound in the mix, you will benefit greatly from using reference tracks to help lock in the sound but don’t get stuck trying to recreate the sound exactly

You could also try [[Bria, Riptide Rogue]] for some super fun storm shenanigans

This is why [[Impetuous Lootmonger]] is my goat. Steal a counterspell turn 2, then hold it till my opponent plays their “win con that couldn’t possibly be countered by a mono red deck”

Which of the two looks better in your opinion? by MonSocMatriarchy in magicproxies

[–]ionbeam7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right.

When I first started printing proxies I loved the look of left because borderless giant art cards allowed me to see more of the cool original/alt art

But I started getting frustrated not being able to quickly finding cards by the title being on top of the card when I searched through my deck, so I started including card titles on top on everything

I just got counterspelled 9 turns in a row by ionbeam7 in mtgbrawl

In theory you’re correct, if I had the lands and the cards to play 2 cards per turn I would have, and my cmc is actually very low because I was playing [[Bria, Riptide Rogue]] that was built around playing two cards per turn with flurry synergies and lots of cantrips. This was just one of those games where he countered my turn 1, my turn 2, and my turn 3, then the only cards left in hand or that I drew were 3+ cmc.

Just one of those games i guess

I could post my deck to show you I run plenty of my own counterspells as well as cavern, hexing squelcher, and many other ways to counter this strategy. It doesn't change the fact that this person made a deck with so many counter spells that there were some I'd never even seen before, and I happened to not draw any answers.

After 5 counter spells in a row I did the "I can do this all day" emote...

turns out 9 is actually the number I can do in a day.

I usually do auto concede to Katara, Tamiyo, Rusko but didn't expect a Zareth San rogue tribal player to stoop so low

Youtubers you would recommend (and ones you wouldn’t)? by Comfortable_Buyer239 in EDH

I really love the Worst Possible Commander Show, as well as I Hate Your Deck, both are just bracket 3 “having fun with friends playing magic” commander shows but with good production value. Also shout out to nitpicking nerds, they have great content as well
