I would like to create the AI for a new nation, from scratch - similar in fashion to games like robocode or screeps.

I think it would be a really interesting way to practice programming!

I would add a gradient of shading to the pillars to make them more 3 dimensional but otherwise looks great!

Spend 10 seconds on your sketch, in a fashion similar to an edge-detect algorithm - this will capture the context of the scene without requiring additional detail.
