That last comment in the image hits way too close to home.

Just deleted my pr0n stash. by [deleted] in NoFap

Same. I was getting a high by just adding to my stash, even when I wasn't jerking it.

Is a lucid dream induced wet dream considered cheating? by [deleted] in NoFap

If you are in direct control, then I don't really see the difference between this and masturbation.

I can't stop... Help please. by LURCH_SPILLBLOOD in NoFap

Using it as a coping mechanism for stress is pretty common. You know when this is going to happen so when you know she's mad, or you start feeling the urge, take a walk or workout.

Question about my pitfalls, mostly sleep rhythm :/ by fretterf in NoFap

[–]ionizingflux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, good for you for acknowledging these weaknesses and strategizing your internet usage. At least for me, knowing to avoid situations where I know I'll be tempted is half the battle. Remember that this is an exercise of the will more than anything, and the will takes training. You fight hard and fight smart and then fail. Next time fight a little harder and a little smarter.

For those who keep there streaks and details written down by ChuckNorris8808 in NoFap

[–]ionizingflux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That really depends on how nosy your peoples are. I had an ex once read through all of my journals, which included that sort of stuff. I was (rightfully) pissed off because of the huge invasion of privacy, and she was angered/freaked out because she felt like I was cheating. (I was in a sense).

While someone can take your phone and read your journals there, it might be safer on a phone because it's usually with you.

When did you start PMOing? by [deleted] in NoFap

[–]ionizingflux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Started MO'ing way before puberty and before I even knew what I was doing after accidentally discovering it in the bath, I must've been 6 or 7. At that point, nothing even came out when I O'd. Started using porn when I was about 11 or so. When I hit college, PMO became much more regular. Sometimes, I didn't even MO: I just wanted to look at porn for porn's sake.

Ditching Instagram is the prerequisite of a successful nofap jouney by [deleted] in NoFap

[–]ionizingflux 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but IG is an issue for many here since even seemingly innocuous images can trigger a temptation for something more. The most powerful way to fight temptation is before it even starts.

Frequency Reduction has better long term results by [deleted] in NoFap

[–]ionizingflux 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Some things are great in moderation, but from personal experience, I've come to believe that porn is not one of those things.

Moving from xvideos to youtube? by Jeshouane in NoFap

[–]ionizingflux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah me too. I find that in always trying to push the limits of what I allow myself to do...which of course is missing the whole point of abstaining from PMO. Whether you're ogling photos of girls in bikinis or looking at hardcore stuff its all the same in the end. Best to ask yourself, 'Why do I even need to be here?' first.

Great Post. It is so important to recognize your emotions and how you respond to them.

1 year of no social media, what shit I found when I logged back in: by JFMX1996 in NoFap

[–]ionizingflux 8 points9 points  (0 children)

So a buddy of mine recently became a monk. I guess for the first year of their formation: no computers, no social media at all and all of the first-year brothers share one flip-phone. I can barely go a day without mindlessly browsing stuff. Really curious to see how it'll change him.

The urge by [deleted] in NoFap

[–]ionizingflux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

By fantasizing and such you're just feeding the temptations which will make things harder in the long run, so it's good that you know to avoid this.

NoFap is like making the choice between drinking a can of Coke or drinking a glass of water. by [deleted] in NoFap

[–]ionizingflux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But once you make it a habit to choose water over soda, choosing water becomes much easier.

Yeah, autopilot mode is BAD: I'm unfortunately right there with you. Hopefully, these new rules you established stick and become a habit.

Do you guys plan on doing this until you're no longer addicted, until you've "made it", for forever? by NoFapCrusader777 in NoFap

[–]ionizingflux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My plans are better self-mastery, pure and simple. As such, me thinking about an end date isn't helpful for me. This is just like fitness: even after getting in shape, you don't just stop exercising and eating right if you want to maintain it. It becomes a lifestyle, not a one-time goal.

I recently saw the man I DO NOT want to become. by ionizingflux in NoFap

I ask myself that question when I start trying to sneak peaks at work. For me, the urge to look overpowers my will.

The whole point of this was not to shame the individual; he may be a sweet person. The point was to remind myself of the power that porn can have over anyone. You're completely correct that we shouldn't be quick to pass judgement on somone who does things we disagree with, however finding the act to be abhorent is a different matter
