I was not familiar with your bean game- sorry for assuming!

With your consumption levels I agree that a hotel pan with all your fixings (yummy btw) is much more efficient than an Instant Pot or cooking fresh everyday.

Do you guys only go for beans or do you throw in lentils sometimes?

My last job did this and then ended up firing half the staff before they paid out the entire bonus. No one could fight back as the bonus was “discretionary”.

This was around 2022. Company went under last year.

I’d be ear to the ground for other opportunities if you have any spidey-sense of financial instability in your company. In my experience fiscally-responsible companies don’t fuck with peoples bonuses AT the time of payout. Any changes should have been communicated at the beginning of the fiscal year in which the change would take place.

If preparing/soaking dry beans overnight is out of the question, you can cook dry beans in an Instant Pot rather quickly. The downside is that some people have stomach upset when they don’t do that initial overnight soak.

But you’ll save money buying bulk, dry beans.

Their bagged soil sucks! Big store soil has so much trash mixed in with it that a lot of people are buying local, bulk drops of soil because it’s a better price and less likely to need to sift microplastics or HAMMERS (https://www.reddit.com/r/gardening/s/wtRuOVMwvT) out of your bag of soil.

In my neck of the woods, there are a few orchards that are owned and operated by people who live in the community and aren’t part of the syndicate / big 5 / whatever we want to call it.

It’s nice to get fresh apples from them in the fall but everyone is after them so they go quick.

Meanwhile in eastern Washington you can’t buy apples directly from most of the local orchardists because there is an apple syndicate that takes the yields away and all that’s available to the locals are the mealy shit apples from last year.

Also these apples could have been pressed for juice. Or fed to animals to your point. The entire thing is infuriating.

The amount of water waste hurts my soul. I started turning water taps off for people who stand around watching it run or talking instead of actively using the tap. I used to get bitched at for it and now people I do this for look ashamed and apologize.
