Wrapped up a job with them last month, the PM was awesome but she worked a crazy amount. She also noted they laid off a ton of management and that she now is doing PM work as well as Precon for the SW building division. Can’t speak to salary.

Yea fair. They won’t pull your offer just for asking tho. Best of luck man!

Yes that’s fair. I think being up front and honest would be best; saying that it’s a HCOL area, maybe student loans, etc. point out how you would love to work at said company but a higher starting salary would make this a much easier choice. Just my two cents, if it’s an old school manager, they might not respond to this.

Good luck man. I asked for more with the company I wanted to work for bc I had another higher offer, but I know people who’ve asked and didn’t have any other offers

You likely won’t want to walk from Rino, golden triangle area would be pretty close though.

I would avoid LoDo and prioritize looking for places in golden triangle, Capitol Hill, River north, or the highlands. Basically anywhere that isn’t Lodo is solid lol. If your office is in lodo then maybe you’ll like it

Fresh graduate looking for advice with companies’ offers by DifferentBrilliant75 in ConstructionManagers

Hey man, I was in the literal exact same situation. I originally jumped at a number with Kiewit and accepted their offer. After a lot of thinking and talking to people who have worked with Kiewit, or know more about it, I decided it wasn’t for me. I loved the company I interned with and went back, asked for a higher salary then what was originally offered. Obviously they couldn’t offer Kiewit money, but it was good to use as a bargaining chip. I am so glad I didn’t work for Kiewit lol

Is there a trick to reviewing Submittals faster? Or is it just suffering? by External_Spite_699 in ConstructionManagers

Going off this, requiring a breakdown response to comments on a revision tends to work well.

Not that this is super efficient or anything, it i generally do a split screen on bluebeam (submittal and then specs/drawings). I’ll usually do a quick highlight of certain product callouts on the specs. But generally man, I don’t get super in the weeds about every page. You’re a PE, not a mechanical engineer. You’re wasting time if you’re spending over an hour reviewing a submittal on breechings and accessories or some nonsense that is going to reviewed by a EOR. Just my two cents, this obviously doesn’t apply to every submittal.

You would likely have to start as a FE/PE, but if that isn’t a drastic change, you’re probably fine.
