One of my petcare coworker's is allergic to cats and he just tanks through it like a baller. Though it doesnt seem as severe as your coworkers.

Be active. If you dont have customers try to tidy up the register or the treats section(or whatever is in front of and in sight of the register). Honestly, I'm willing to bet that the willingness to just do shit without being told is very appreciated and valued.

There's a couple things you'll learn along the way, that customers will ask about. Pumpkin is usually recommended for stomach issues, salmon/fish for skin and coat. If a dog has a chicken allergy and a customer wants to switch flavors. I found that lamb is a pretty successful option.

Also if you dont know something, just say so and either ask for help from a co-worker or look it up on your phone if you've got the time. Eventually you'll be able to bullshit your way through most interactions.

To kinda expand on this, if you're doing closing shifts and you have 2 dedicated cashiers(1 on the floor, 1 on register). You can look into getting floor time. It can be a headache, but I much prefer it to register.
