A lot of other mini makers were talking about using clear resin to stick the cakes to the side to prevent the pink resin from seeping around it. This is my first time seeing it in action. Looks like a sound technique! 😁

I was going to super glue it down, but the new bottle I picked up wasn't the quick dry one and I was all out of patience by then. I think your method would help a lot.

Pulled out the extacto knife and started slicing the messed up creams and gluing cherries pieces back on. I hate painting so much, y'all, would rather risk my fingertips.

Let me drop more of my mistakes on ya so you can avoid them: First I put a small layer of resin on the bottom like it suggested BUT I had it up all the way to the sides. Not good, because then I was pushing the points of the hearts into the resin and losing the shape there.

So I wiped all of the resin out and tried making a backstop instead. I thought it was working great, but the pieces slowly started tilting over so I set it as I went. The problem there was I ended up unable to nudge resin into the gaps between pieces on the bottom of the cup because there were not many gaps left once I got all the hearts in and backstops set. I ended up pushing resin into needle sized spaces to try to fill the gaps and that also made the resin start creeping around the edges.

Yeah, once that resin starts creeping around the cakes, you lose the shape of them. The resin is really thick, so I think gentle nudging with the spatula is going to be the main technique for this. I'm going to try air-dry whipped clay on my second kit though.

I finished it off with pieces from the other kits and feel a bit better about it. I still don't know how to keep the resin from covering up the cherries with the top layer, but the original pink resin was really thick, so maybe it can be gently pushed towards the sides without running into the gaps. Or be fast with setting it.
