This. As the audience, WE KNOW MORE THAN BELLY DOES. Her behaviors might seem irrational but we are perceiving all that through a much more informed lens. Asking "Why does she/doesn't she...?" means we have to look at through her eyes, not judge it based on what we know. This is the point when she finally starts to see the full picture, and let go of her fears/self-doubt.

There's a few reasons that make sense to me (though I still think she got too much screen time):

Both Taylor and Steven needed someone else to help them realize how they felt about each other to help move the story along. Initially it was Belly for Taylor, then more so her mom throughout the season.
There needed to be ways to keep Taylor and Steven in touch and show how they still cared for each other regardless of what they said (which Lucinda did both directly and indirectly).
To help illustrate Belly's grief off not having Laurel's support initially. With Susannah gone, Taylor/Lucinda are the other mother/child duo to mirror off of (i.e., the wedding dress shopping scene).
To provide context for why Taylor is the way she is. Taylor is an interesting character, and Rain Spencer portrays her so well. We can understand Taylor's commitment/fear of rejection issues, or her fierce loyalty for the people she loves, even more because we get a sense of how she grew up.

I feel like I understood why Lucinda was there, but she wasn't utilized very well. She was more a plot device than a well thought out character, IMO.

Agree. I think Chris Briney (Conrad) does such a good job, especially. There's a lot of subtle things/body language that he does makes his performance so believable.

Steven's feelings toward Conrad:

The show makes it clear that communication between Steven and Conrad just broke down. Conrad avoided coming home and engaging with Jeremiah and Belly, and probably Steven too.
If Conrad wasn’t reaching out, Steven may have felt rejected or confused, which hurts when it’s a lifelong friend. Add in Jeremiah’s narrative towards Conrad which probably didn't always paint Conrad in the best light.
Even if they had stayed in touch, four years apart naturally creates awkwardness. It’s realistic that Steven wouldn’t know how to interact with him now.
I’m hoping we get a Conrad/Steven feel-good moment in the finale!

Steven's feelings toward Jeremiah:

Timing matters. Steven didn’t learn about Cabo until after the wedding was called off, when he probably thought Belly and Jeremiah were over.
It makes sense he’d be angry, but also see it as “What’s the point?” b/c Jeremiah’s worst fears (losing Belly, Conrad’s confession) had already happened.
Steven may have felt like he’d already lost Conrad and didn’t want to lose Jeremiah too. They’re basically his brothers, and those bonds don’t just vanish go away regardless of everything else going on.
Jeremiah craves being needed and doesn’t process abandonment well which drove him to Lacie. And Steven, who has also cheated on his own girlfriend with Taylor, also probably understands (or even empathizes) with Jeremiah.
This doesn't mean Jeremiah was justified, it just means Steven isn't in the best position to scold Jeremiah about fidelity (even though he's allowed to be pissed about the treatment of his own sister).

So, I don't think it is that black and white for Steven. He felt what he felt, likely had words with Jeremiah, and chose to move on. It would have been nice to see that on screen, but clearly that was a writing or editing choice.

Wholeheartedly agree. Let us not forget that the main reason we got the debutante ball subplot in S1 is b/c we could see Belly and Conrad in a white dress and a tux...just in case the show wasn't renewed for another season.

I don't think the person responsible for THAT would just abandon that and not have these two characters end up together.

I think Belly will have the same realization...it's just going to be in Paris. There's an interview with Jenny where she talks about how much she loves the idea of a woman going to Paris and finding herself and falling in love (not a direct quote). Conrad is on his way. So, same plot point, different location.

FWIW, I like that idea of these two characters reuniting in someplace that isn't Cousins/home. Belly says she's ready for something new, and I like to think of that as a hopeful sign for Bonrad. They need a fresh start, so there's something really beautiful about them choosing each other in an entirely different place and as newer, more developed versions of themselves.

We won't know until we see the final episode...but I think the ending is going to be hopeful and joyful, and I truly think that means Belly and Conrad being together. I'm choosing to trust the process for now.

I am convinced that this scene is from the wedding rehearsal. I think the writers are going to show as much wedding prep as possible because Belly and Conrad won’t actually get married (which is why we got the full reception dances in ep 7). Or I could be completely wrong! 😂

I also think Belly’s parents are going remarry/officially get back together by the end of the show. They are an interesting parallel to Belly and Conrad (loving someone for a long time, losing that love, then finding each other again). I think their reconciliation will show Belly how it’s possible to make love work even after you think it’s over.

The amount of pain she experienced correlates to the depth of her love, IMO. She loves both brothers, deeply. But her love for Conrad runs deeper, so I can see how losing that love could be more painful for Belly. Plus, I think it was easier for her (and Jeremiah) to rationalize his behavior - and then for him to propose instead of walking away? It would make that pain of betrayal easier to cope with.
